Earlier this year I warned of the Mexican Drug war spilling into this (USA)country... guess what ATS its here...

Here's a quote from CBS who did a special report

law enforcement sources tell CBS News that Phoenix has become ground zero for the explosion in the reported number of kidnappings and home invasions involving drug traffickers and criminals with connections to the Mexican drug cartels.

A CBS News investigation has discovered that as of last weekend, there have been 266 reported kidnappings and 300 home invasions this year alone. Sources say the real figures could run as much as three times higher because so many go unreported.

In June, three Mexican nationals were arrested by Phoenix police after a violent home invasion and murder at a drug "safe house." They were dressed head-to-toe just like the local S.W.A.T. team - and just as heavily armed.

Now CBS News has learned enforcer gangs just south of the Mexican border have added military-grade hand grenades to their arsenal - something special agent Jose Wall expects to see in Phoenix any day.

If that's not distressing enough take a look at this map
National Drug Intelligence Center maps and data about Mexican drug operations in the United States. It shows this nasty little war has spread to every state in the union.

The US encouraged Mexico to go after drug dealers and Mexico has responded. The US has also offered resources under Plan Mexico or the Mérida Initiative.

From what’s known of it, the package — officially dubbed the “Mérida Initiative” but more commonly referred to as “Plan Mexico” -- contains direct donations of military and intelligence equipment, and training programs for Mexican law enforcement officials. A White House fact sheet lists surveillance equipment, helicopters and aircraft, scanners for border revisions, communications systems, and training programs for “strengthening the institutions of justice.” An additional $50 million dollars is earmarked for Central American countries to support their fight against “gangs, drugs, and arms.”

The problem is that Mexico has a lot of corrupt government employees that are helping the drug dealers. Also, the drug deals are very barbaric when they go after those who are against them. They have killed singers who have sung songs criticizing the drug dealers and newspapers will basically not print any drug related story.

Thats nothing new, living in south TX, theres news story about 3-4 times a week maybe more about drug busts, weapons busts, smugglers, in Reynosa which is a mexican city across the border there was a recent riot in a jail where about 20 inmates were killed, about a week before or so around 7 inmates along with guards had escaped, basically they had paid out the guards. the plane that crashed with the mexican high ranking official also is rumored to be work of the cartels. In several bordertowns there have been banners hung from cartels with warnings,

Even police chiefs here in south tx have been fired for having ties with mexican drug gangs. well its just too much info but It def is scary
