It appears in this video that President Bush's approval is in a sorrier state than polls indicate. In a video taken at the G20 summit, Bush walks across a line of world leaders without shaking or being asked to shake any of their hands. Whether the President is being rejected by the world leaders or he is rejecting them, CNN's Rick Sanchez aptly says that Bush looks like "the most unpopular kid.

Not sure if it is them or him not wanting to shake hands. It is amusing to watch him walk up there with his head held down in shame. He deserves it!!!
He has a dismal record and not even should be considered a world leader....as he has had the go it alone approach for too long..GOD I can not wait till 1/20/09.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Maybe he has a cold and doesn't want to spread germs

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

I don't think it means anything, watch it again. Notice that the second guy from Bush (the taller one) only shook one persons hand, he even reached across one person to get to her. Also you can see Bush acknowledge each one as he passes and looks down afterward, as if he is watching where he is going.

Its a major slight of protocol not to shake the hosting party's hand. When was the last time you saw that happen?

I think it's taken out of context. Protocol would have had Bush offer his hand first. I believe that Bush had already shaken hands with them.

That's the only reasonable explanation, it's impossible to believe that of
ALL the leaders, none would have acted like he expected to have his hand shaken. Of course, that's the "reasonable" assumption.

didn't obama say that after bush shook hands with him, that bush then turned to someone for a dollop of hand sanitizer? if you're the president, you can't go shaking everyone's hand. especially now that its cold season.
