No conspiracy theory here. Juan Angel Guerra is still alive and safe. This is his explanation for not showing up yesterday.
Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra said he didn’t appear at Wednesday’s hearing on indictments against public officials
including Vice President Dick Cheney because he didn’t get proper notice and didn’t understand the rush.
“Hearings are not done that way,” he said. “The judge doesn’t say, ‘Hey, I’m going to be there tomorrow.' That’s not the way it works.
They put it on the docket. They give you three days notice.”

He is probably in las flores swiging on some tequila after seeing black helicopters flying over his house.
If they search his house they will probally find a leaflet that says...
I know what you won't be doing next summer.
edit... ZombieSlayer, you solved the mystery. Congrats.

Washington Times - Guerra
Reached by phone late Wednesday, Mr. Guerra said he had a prior obligation to speak at Nuevo Leon University law school in Mexico and did not know
about Wednesday's hearing. He suggested the court's holding it so quickly indicated that the defendants are receiving special consideration. Some
already dismissed the case as hopelessly political, the latest in tit-for-tat between Mr. Guerra and his rivals. Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence
told The Washington Times that Mr. Guerra, who lost the Democratic primary in March and will leave office after three terms in January, frequently
threatened rivals with prosecution. Sheriff Spence counts himself among those who have been threatened. "Usually, it's just people that disagree
with the way he's done things, and then you've moved to the top of his hit list," Sheriff Spence said. "I'm in my 25th year as sheriff, and I
haven't seen anything like this." He said Mr. Guerra likes drawing attention to himself and is a polarizing figure in Willacy County. Last year,
Mr. Guerra was indicted on corruption charges, which he blasted as politically motivated, pointing out the special prosecutor was a political rival
who had run against him for district attorney.
looks like a "stunt". really as much as many agree that many politicians should be held accountable for their actions while in office, it would seem
rather futile.
They will either get pardons or the legal proceedings will become "corrupted". Or both.
Most of these politicians are coated with Teflon and getting anything to stick would be amazing.

Actually, that rather sounds like a conspiracy in and of itself.

Just like the white powder that was mailed to Democrats as a sign to stop "digging" after 9/11, if this prosecutor appears dead under mysterious
circumstances, it would be a clear message to other prosecutors. I'm very curious to know why this prosecutor didn't appear in court.
I have a feeling the media may not be reporting too much of this. If anyone finds out before the media does, please post here.

Looks like the hearing has been moved to Friday.
Dick Cheney and Alberto Gonzales Indicted in Private Prison Case in Texas
A Texas judge has set an arraignment date for Friday for Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. They were indicted
this week by a Texas grand jury on state charges accusing them of responsibility for prisoner abuse in a privately run federal jail. We speak with
Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra. [includes rush transcript]

Another one on a death list. There was a death list for Mr. Clinton's time in office. If I remember correct it was quite a long list.

And let's not forget during his time as Arkansas Governor. Just Google Arkancide and you will find the extensive list of deaths.

I agree with you totally. I just wish it were so.
The point is that this particular administration has twisted the law so much that anything short of a mandate by the masses is going to be swept under
the rug. We have seen this time and time again over the last eight years (well not THIS PARTICULAR thing, but the refusals of subpeonas, reduction of
rights, etc).
At this point it is too late unless people rise up en masse. Which is why I said wait until the new administration is in and then act.
Normally I would advocate impeachment now, and I would love nothing more, but they seem to have their bases covered... And if you find a loophole,
they'll get rid of you. Cheney shot someone, for Pete's sake.
Sure the dude didn't press charges, but if that were you or I, the state WOULD have.
So maybe we AREN'T equal in the eyes of the law afterall... Just a thought.

That is actually precisely what I was getting at.
I had mentioned in the earlier thread about the indictment, that although this one DA's charges wouldn't really hold much water by itself, perhaps
it would serve as a stepping-stone for other prosecutors, and perhaps the new Attorney General himself, to see that this won't be met with
"boo's", so to speak.
However, if he is killed, this could send a message to the contrary.
To stay the hell away.
The threat won't hold after Obama takes office. If he keeps his promises, that is...

So, he didn't show up because he wasn't given notice of the hearings date?
Sounds to me like a set up.
The judge is probably pro-Cheney, and gave extremely short notice of the hearing to the DA knowing he wouldn't get the notice until it was too late
to show up.
It's underhanded, but at least it's not murder.
But it still should be intensely punished regardless.

So he was told that he needed to be there and he didn't show up because he didn't understand the rush. Sounds like he is just incompetent. There are
ways of getting more time in court, you don't just not show up because you feel you are being rushed.

I wouldn't want that job, particularly having children to worry about.
Wondering if a space based Laser target on a person in his yard would leave any evidence?
Brave? More like a Partisan and Vindictive fool. He has no legitimate basis for even commencing forth with these charges, and there should have never
been an indictment to begin with. He obviously did a great job in selecting an equally Partisan Grand Jury. This case is more or less a Kangaroo Court
procession.
The Charges are so far fetched, both in their subjective and connective aspects, that one must seriously begin to ponder who on Earth would take them
seriously in a Court of Law?
I am not cutting on you in particular, as it is this Prosecutor who remains idiotic in his actions, but look at the case with some Bi-Partisan based
Logic.
The Presiding Judge is the VERY same individual who dismissed Felony Indictments against the Prosecutor himself. In other words, they have quite the
relationship. Also, half of the Co-Defendants named in the same case against Cheney/Gonzalez, are local officials who lead the investigation against
and brought forth the Indictment against this very same Prosecutor last year.
Look at how whacked out this Prosecutor is:
After Guerra's office was raided as part of the investigation early last year, he camped outside the courthouse in a borrowed camper with a
horse, three goats and a rooster. He threatened to dismiss hundreds of cases because he believed local law enforcement had aided the investigation
against him.
Check out another recollection of Prosecutor Guerra:
Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence told The Washington Times that Mr. Guerra, who lost the Democratic primary in March and will leave office after
three terms in January, frequently threatened rivals with prosecution. Sheriff Spence counts himself among those who have been threatened.
"Usually, it's just people that disagree with the way he's done things, and then you've moved to the top of his hit list," Sheriff Spence said.
"I'm in my 25th year as sheriff, and I haven't seen anything like this."
He said Mr. Guerra likes drawing attention to himself and is a polarizing figure in Willacy County. Last year, Mr. Guerra was indicted on
corruption charges, which he blasted as politically motivated, pointing out the special prosecutor was a political rival who had run against him
for district attorney.
Before he was indicted, Mr. Guerra was charged with interfering with a police search of his office. He spent a night in jail, but didn't go
far after his release. As a protest, Mr. Guerra moved into a camper across the street from the county jail and brought along goats, a rooster and a
horse. Ultimately, all charges were dropped.
You might also ask yourself: Where was Guerra when he missed his own Court Date for the Cheney/Gonzalez case?
Read this to find out:
In another bizarre twist, Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra was a no-show in court Wednesday, prompting Judge Banales to order the
Texas Rangers to go find him.
Reached by phone late Wednesday, Mr. Guerra said he had a prior obligation to speak at Nuevo Leon University law school in Mexico and
did not know about Wednesday's hearing. He suggested the court's holding it so quickly indicated that the defendants are receiving special
consideration.
Bottom line, this guy is on a vegeance seeking mission, and nothing else. This is NOT about Justice, it IS about Revenge. These are very scary motives
indeed for a Presiding Court Official.

My mind flashes to scenes from Godfather II - The Senator *waking up* in bed with the murdered prostitute - in a motel that just happens to be owned
by the *Family*...
Tom, (the Family lawyer) reassures the Senator with a line something like “Don’t worry Senator, it will be like this never happened”...
Makes me wonder what they *got* on he DA...
