Cheney-Targeting D.A. Is a No-show!

www.mysanantonio.com
RAYMONDVILLE — Willacy County prosecutor Juan Angel Guerra stumped a presiding judge and attorneys for clients as high up as Vice President Dick Cheney when he failed to show up to court on his own grand jury’s indictments.

The no-show infuriated attorneys who’d spent the day milling about with what they’d hoped would be slam-dunk motions to quash the cases. And it put Presiding Judge Manuel Bañales in a position he said he’d never been in before.

“At the very least I expected the district attorney to be here,” Bañales said, asking Guerra’s office manager, “Do you know where he is?” The manager, Hilda Ramirez, was subpoenaed by defense attorney J.A. “Tony” Canales when buzz circulated in the courthouse that Guerra was nowhere to be found.

Reminds me of the Duke University Lacross fiasco a little. Might be just someone who thought others would jump on the bandwagon and this prosecutor would make a name for himself! Makes me kind of mad, not that I agree with Cheney but who's next on the hit list. maybe we should do like the British system does. If you bring suit and loose, you pay ALL the bills!

Not a chance this dude is dead. Just like the maddam that suposedly commited suicide after claiming she had dirt on cheney. wierd huh. Also any one remember her saying she was never gonna kill her self, she was even on the alex jones show twice, then she dropped the bomb that she has evidence that cheney was a client as well as some pillow talk leaks of his then bam a week later dead.

I suppose the first thought most of us had was that he'd been involuntarily "suicided". BUT! I remembered the following from yesterday's news and thought that since both the judge and the DA in that county trial are crooked; he might have been paid off by the ahem 'defendents'.

QUOTE
Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra himself had been under indictment for more than a year and half before a judge dismissed the indictments last month.

This dude played his cards wrong from the beginning.

What do we have here? Some intelligence officials telling a NYT reporter that come January 21st they are going to start talking. Obama saying OUTRIGHT that when he takes office, he'll be using executive orders to repeal some of Bush's f-ups. Biden saying that they have an investigative panel looking into possible Bush admin. crimes and if any are found, they may well be prosecuted.

Nah, he should have waited to bring this suit forward. Get the ball rolling after the new administration was in.
He jumped the gun and he is either dead now or too scared to come out of his house.

I mean, I'm all for impeaching these folks, but that shouldn't come from some DA... It should come from a Congressional consensus. Plus, they have written laws to protect themselves... Best thing to do is to wait for the new admin to come in and clean up some of the mess first. Then deal with these crooks.

Or they could use this one: Overdose on sleeping or prescription pills - but the media will not mention the bruising around the mouth and face where they held his mouth closed after pouring the pills in.

We will see soon enough

I beg to differ. The people must be empowered to address the grievance without the Congress or Senate being involved. For one thing, the politico's have to fear for their livelihood, and so have many reasons not to address this. Also, the political bodies can be easily corrupted and fail to represent the people ($2.5 + Trillion Dollar bail-out ring a bell?)

Justice and it's processes CANNOT BE ALLOWED to be change for the benefit of the political animal. That would make all other citizens - lesser entities. And believe or not (they don't) we are all equal.

I absolutely agree with you. Wait, I thought that was how it is done here? If you bring a suit and lose then you foot the bill. In essence, that is what will happen here. THE PEOPLE are paying this guy to bring cases against any and ALL criminals regardless of their stature. If he loses then we foot the bill. Then the defendant can counter sue and get some money back.

That last part is what sucks and I just remembered the expenses of the defendents. I was thinking about whether the DA loses. Yeah, the loser should cover all costs. But could the American taxpayer afford to pay the fees of the scum lawyers that people like little D. Cheney could afford? That alone would cause most big time cases to be tossed out because the people's representatives (DA in this case) would not want to risk the millions in fees they would have to pay if they lost.

It would change the court system even more in favor of the wealthy and super rich.

Sorry, I have changed my mind. Bad call.
