What is with Standish? Every time that town is in the news its for some wretched thing, people getting hit by lightning, police stand-offs, now this. What is wrong with your town?

Standish sounds like a great place - seriously.

The person who put up the tally sheet for an assassination attempt was rather an embarrassment, no doubt, but that doesn't mean he (she?) was stating something that isn't already talked about.



I live in Portland, OR and before the election people were talking about how, if Obama were elected, there would no doubt be an assassination attempt made on him. In the country we live in... who would be surprised?

Now I am hearing the same 'bets' being taken on when someone will attempt to assassinate President-elect Obama. It doesn't mean any of the people want it to happen, but they realize that their are people out there ruled by hate, bigotry and skewed ideology that are more than capable of such an act.

You don't have to live in Standish, Maine to be aware of what many people are talking about and expecting to happen. It is unfortunate that so many people do expect an attempt... it sure reflects poorly on our nation doesn't it?

It nothing but a deer tagging stop between Maine and New Hampshire. This store has a big orange "Hunters welcome" Budweiser sign posted in front. Bet the local beer distributor is less than happy this storefront plastered all over the news.
