The Defense Department's geeks are spooked by a rapidly spreading worm crawling across their networks. So they've suspended the use of so-called thumb drives, CDs, flash media cards, and all other removable data storage devices from their nets, to try to keep the worm from multiplying any further.

I guess all the money is spent on creating things that make large impressive explosions.

Technology is the mechanism that has made the US Forces faster and more agile than most other military forces, but it seems that in a conventional war, it will be the troops on the ground doing the dirty work, as it has been for thousands of years.
Their commanders might think they have their finger on the button, but it seems the button won't work. Abort/Retry/Fail.
