Antiwar groups fear Barack Obama may create hawkish Cabinet
Reporting from Washington -- Antiwar groups and other liberal activists are increasingly concerned at signs that Barack Obama's national
security team will be dominated by appointees who favored the Iraq invasion and hold hawkish views on other important foreign policy issues.
The activists are uneasy not only about signs that both Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates could be in the
Obama Cabinet, but at reports suggesting that several other short-list candidates for top security posts backed the decision to go to war.

also..........Activists note that most of the candidates for top security posts voted for the 2002 resolution authorizing President Bush to invade
Iraq or otherwise supported launching the war.
This is not surprising. Could this be one of the reasons Obama looked so distraught after the meetings with the FBI and the CIA?
It seems that we may not have the "change " we have been expecting nor the "change" we have voted for.
I hope this indicator is wrong yet the fact that the Obama website changed right after the election causes one to worry what the future may hold.
President elect Obama still gets my benifit of doubt though since he really has had no chance to show his hand yet.
Also, President elect Obama may now have detailed knowledge of events that he had very little knowledge of before.
Nevertheless, we can see a hint of the direction that this country will go via his picks of those who will govern the country for the next fours
years.
I wonder how pleased Obama is with "his" picks for cabinet.

President-elect promised change, picking insiders
President-elect Barack Obama promised the voters change, but he has started his Cabinet selection process by naming several Washington insiders to
top posts.
Obama is enlisting former Senate leader Tom Daschle as his health secretary. Hillary Rodham Clinton seemed more likely than ever to be his secretary
of state. Clinton is deciding whether to take that post as America's top diplomat, her associates said Wednesday.
Obama is ready to announce that his attorney general will be Eric Holder, the Justice Department's No. 2 when Clinton's husband was president. Rahm
Emanuel, Obama's chief of staff, is another veteran of the Clinton White House.
A few names that have bubbled up for Cabinet posts don't have strong Clinton connections. Several news organizations reported Thursday that Arizona
Gov. Janet Napolitano is Obama's primary choice to be secretary of the Homeland Security Department. The New York Times, citing Democrats with
knowledge of the process, said Napolitano was about to be offered the job. The Washington Post and The Politico Web site also reported that she was
Obama's choice.
Above is some more information on the cabinet picks. Remember, the past is prologue.
Hunter S. Thompson alluded to the presidential race as the cruelist game on earth. I remember his comment aluding to the fact that just to get into
the savage race wierdness must be employed into those who would even dare to seriously consider trying to place yourself upon the Throne of the
MostPowerful Country ever from the time of birth onward.
And so it goes.
We have someone who proclaimed "Change" and we said yes but the change is beginning to look the same.

If you guys didn't see this coming with Brzezinski as campaign advisor...
Of course there will be no change, there never was any change to begin with. The cake was a lie. There was no cake. It's just the same people going
over the same goals. Business as usual, and the business is death and empoverishment.

I am afraid that unless we see substantial change, Obama , may have some blowback.
I, like all persons around the globe, felt very proud when the US elected a man of color to be the President of the United States, even though I
supported McCain. (although, Paline bimbo killed it for me)
Yet I, too, had a hunch that no matter what the intentions of President Elect Obama , after he saw the "big" picture for the first time he would
more or less follow the lead of President Bush.

Why does the President elect always goes out and gets people with preset concepts on how things should be? Bush got Rumsfield and Rumsfield ran the
war as he would have in his previous administration tour. He had nothing new to add and wasn't willing to change with the times. I see Obama doing
the same. He is getting all these people from previous administration who believe the Clinton years were the best years of our lives. Maybe they were.
However, what worked during that time period may not be the best medicine for this time period. I fear some of these people will stick to their
stubborn plans and try to convince Obama that their way is the best way. I have yet to see any major changes with his selection. Some will argue that
this is not the change Obama was talking about. That's fine. But Congress isn't going to change and changing times and world events will dictate
Obama's policy just like they did for Bush.
As far as hawkish, I feel Obama and his staff will be hawkish in Darfur and Afghanistan.

Yes, it seems Darfur is more important to the US then ever before.
Star for bringing up Darfur as we may soon see a large project taking place near Darfur soon.

At least if Obama decides to meddle with Darfur it couldnt possibly be any worse than when Clinton stopped by Rwanda to wave hello then took off
ASAP.
The next 4-8 is going to be like the last 16 all mashed up into one terrible nightmare with plenty of brown people dying and a whole slew of freedoms
being denied.
All to the sound of great Obama/Clinton supporter applause no doubt.

jam321: Because his handlers tell him what to do, and he does it or penalty of death. It's a mob setup, plain and simple, and he's just a very high
paid errand boy. Remember Lincoln? Remember Kennedy? This is what happens to the real presidents of the USA. The others will just tend to be crooks
dressed up as "presidential".
