Hi,
I reported the two stars over a week ago on MUFON. One is bright, one is not as bright, and they were about 1/2 moon width apart. As I was watching,
they simply disappeared. From Sacramento, the stars were at about 160 degrees from north, and about 50 degrees elevation.
By the way, I have an observatory. I am not easily fooled by stars. These were not stars.
Bye

From how the OP describes it, I am almost sure that it is these two planets that are being described.
www.earthsky.org...
I have been seeing them myself and every evening I am amazed and almost in denial that these two brilliantly bright shining objects are the two
planets as mentioned in the link above.
They seem to be getting brighter and brighter and I have been witnessing them for several months myself now. But, alas, they are not some strange
objects that are "suddenly appearing" as even you, the OP, have admitted. They are there naturally.... aka venus and jupiter!

well, as promised, here's the only decent vid of what I saw the night of this post. All of the stills came out pitch black. I didn't think the vid
mode actually had audio with it. Sorry, I'll try harder next time.
What's still odd is, even tonight they were still there but the brightest one ,to the naked eye, at about 5:30p looked as if it had 2 other smaller
stars with it, one at appox. 11O'clock and the other at 2 O'clock which seemed to be connected or on the outer edge of the main 'star'.

Hi all,
Just tonight, I saw a fairly bright star as I was driving home...problem is, it's a double star.. meaning there are 2 stars extremely close together.
As I approched the house, I noticed another very bright star at appox. 160* from the 'double star'. I then realized that these 2 stars are the same
ones I've been looking at since this past summer, but only now, it seems even brighter!
Rushing inside my house to grab the digital camera, I zoomed in at max and bingo, it's an orb as clear as day hovering at appox 3,000ft at about 3
miles away, in a NW direction. I've taken 4 vids with the camera and 5-6 pics of zoomed in. However, the pictures are not coming through when
reviewing....
gRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.. very frustrating !!! It's still there as of this post and has been there for months. but just brighter..
I don't know anyone that has a camera close by.. i'll see if I can get the damm camera to get the pics..in the mean time..
Here's my location.. incase someone can confirm my ordinates for the orbs using the coordinates of my house..
I took the pic out and it's confirmed, as being SW of my house.

Ok, thx for the web info. At so at this point all i can say is; it is more than likely Jupiter. However, if I ever get a good still, it's
definitely going to be posted.
And btw, I never said it 'suddenly appeared' I said it was the same 2 stars that I saw during the summer which were 'almost' the same intensity as
now..

Hello everyone,
I was going to ask if anyone saw anything odd tonight - about 6:00 PM? I work in the Portland, OR area and I went outside for a quick break. When I
turned towards SW Portland I saw what looked like two very bright stars - one at 11 o'clock and the other at 5 o'clock. I'm sure they were just
helicopters, one would move south and the other would follow.
I live in the country in south Washington and have witnessed these occurrences more and more over the last few months. Two friends and I witnessed a
large bright light move quickly through the sky last July and since then I've seen these "dancing stars". I just wish I knew exactly how stars
moved (and planets) - cause I'd say if UFO's didn't want to be detected by the naked eye - they would move like the "dancing stars" like I've
seen lately. If someone could explain to me how stars move in the sky, it might alleviate some confusion for me. Thanks everyone and have a
splendiferous night!

scroll up and check out the website, it's more than likely Venus and Jupiter, thus that might have been what I filmed; however, when I zoomed in to
take a picture, I thought I saw a 'silvery' orb.. (check out my OT)
I don't know anyone that has a high powered telescope with a recording device, but if I did.. I'd pay them to use it~! LOL

That looks exactly like the two stars I saw tonight - I mean planets. Sheesh - they look like they are so close that I could grab them! I
should have known that they weren't sightings, since they were in the same exact places they were yesterday. Thanks Komodo - it's greatly
appreciated!
I do have a question - is there a topic on here that can help people distinguish between a star/planet moving and a UFO moving? I just wish I could
be shown how stars move while I watch the sky.

Better than that, download stellarium. That what I used to quiz Komodo at the beginning of this thread.
Didn't seem to help him to much though.

Hi,
I am in Manchester, UK and saw a very bright object in the sky around 120 degrees to the right of the moon about 4.30pm GMT. I don't know the first
thing about stars, but I could see the object in the sky even before the sky went dark. It was so bright it was almost like it was emitting rays of
light at the base.
Is this a star? It was stationary and I've never seen anything like this before.

sure it did, kinda. However, what's intresting is now their positions are switched, the brighter one is now where the dimmer planet use to be.

So... five pages later... Jupiter and Venus... as was suggested on the first page.
I blame this on schools not teaching astronomy anymore
