Arcturus is a tricky one, i've had to spend an extra minute of critical thinking/feeling many a time before realizing after patient observation that
i was indeed freaking out about Arcturus.
Its a testament to Arcturus' immense beauty.
Edgar Cayce
"Arcturus is that which may be called the center of this universe, through which individuals pass and at which period there comes the choice of the
individual as to whether it is to return to complete there - that is, in this planetary system, our sun, the earth sun and its planetary system - or
to pass on to others."

Take a look to the north of Venus and Jupiter (and slightly lower than Venus) right after sunset. You should see Arcturus before it sets.

Actually, I wonder where the Saturn is. Lastly, it was a very good companion to Jupiter, but I lost its track. Venus more charming than Saturn?
Phage, I will check Arcturus tomorrow night. Thanks for the tip.

Saturn is rising right next to the moon.
You may have missed Arcturus. Depending on your latitude, it's very low in the northwest just at sunset.

I'm southeast of Gresham by about 50 miles... should I go outside and look tonight or not.. Northwesterly? (it's cold out there) We have a large
telescope.

This is what it should have looked like last night a little after sunset (not showing the sunlight). Arcturus might be below the coast range before
it's dark enough to see it. Click for the full size image

There is a thick cloud cover tonight. There are holes in the clouds to the west, but the sun just went down. Great sunset by the way. Saw a plane. I
doubt there will be any star gazing tonight. wouldn't that make better UFO pictures at three miles? I live on a ridge, but I would not be able to see
over the coastal range.
[edit on 21-11-2008 by seagrass] I actually looked at an Oregon Map...lol and I am more like directly south sw of Gresham by about 50 miles. North
East of Eugene.

I went back out.. I see one star directly above me, when looking Southwest. Last night LostNemesis said she saw it towards Bend Idahoish that would
be south east of Gresham.

The people want to see your videos, good or bad. If it was low in the sky, I wouldn't be able to see what you are seeing.

Salem? You're in the Willamette, dammit! I lived in Eugene for a few years before the winters got to me. Really nice in the spring and fall though.
