Britain to lead fleet of EU warships to tackle pirates
www.guardian.co.uk
Britain is to lead an armada of EU warships to the Gulf of Aden next month to tackle the escalating problem of piracy in a mission expected to
last 12 months.
Russia today came up with its own proposal - land operations against the bases of Somali pirates.
Dmitry Rogozin, Russia's ambassador to Nato, said the view of Russian experts was that naval action alone, even involving a large fleet of a powerful
nation, would not be enough to defeat the pirates, given Somalia's geo-strategic position. (visit the link for the full news article)

Is the Eu gonna eradicate these 'pirates' by sea and the russians by land? or are we gonna have two massive powers fighting there own operations ..
right next to each other.
i hope they co-operate and deal with this threat, however i wonder to myself why are these pirates doing this ? are they plain stupid? attacking the
super tanker filled with saudi oil.
are they in it just for the money? possibly .. the last bunch demanded 20 mil? or was it 4 mil .
or just plain good old fashion piracy !! ahaaa matey.

Obviosly, these pirates think they can continue to wreak havoc on these ships. Send these jerks a message throughout the world!
I'm sure they have insurance on the vessal and cargo, correct? Then blow them off the face of the earth!!! Make them think twice about doing it
again!

Britain had the damn nerve when they use to hire pirates only a couple centuries ago, I will be watching this closely to see how they deal with this
and comparing it to when they hired pirates.
Note: I dont not support piracy but hate when countries do something in the present or near recent past and then when someone else does it and has the
nerve to b***h about it.

I find it very interesting that the US, with a fleet (all of them), as much as the rest of the world combined, did, basically, nothing but watch.
I find it very interesting that the E.U. will be gathering up a "powerful fleet".
I find it very worrying that there may be a large? Contingent of Russian troops on the ground.
The chances for one idiot or the other to do something really stupid goes up geometrically.
Like we need me "flash" points around the world.

How is “a couple of centuries ago” the “recent past”? Maybe if we’re talking about continental drift but we’re talking about piracy. Are
you honestly suggesting that Britain should just do nothing? Well going by that logic we used to condone assassinations didn’t we and have civil
wars so maybe we should let all the murderers and gang leaders go free; after all Britain doesn’t have the moral pedigree to condemn them does
it!
I don’t normally get annoyed this easily but it’s when people with these truly moronic views get together en masse that we start having so much
trouble deporting foreign murderers or, ironically, detaining pirates!

The more there's pirates, the cooler the temperature is! So Britain is for global warming!
Maybe instead of bombing them, we could help Somalia people? No?

It's difficult to help a nation that doesn't want help. Right now you've got several different warlords and factions fighting in Somalia for
control, there is no genuine government there, whatever form of organization they have tends to fail rather quickly.
The Muslim force is promising to end piracy should they take Mogadishu.
