Hate Crimes Surge in U.S. after Obama Election: Experts
rawstory.com
Barack Obama's historic election as America's first black president has led to a surge of racist incidents across the United States,
hate-crime monitoring groups and analysts say. Mark Potok, director of the Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center, said the final weeks of the US
election campaign and its immediate aftermath had witnessed "hundreds and hundreds" of hate-related incidents.
"Since the closing weeks of the campaign, we've seen a real and significant, white backlash break out and I think it's getting worse," Potok told
AFP. Potok traced the onset of the incidents to around the time of election rallies by Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin where shouts
of "Kill Him!" were reportedly heard from sections of the crowd.
"But what we're seeing now is everything from cross burnings, to death threats, to Obama effigies hanging in nooses to ugly racial incidents in
schoolyards around the country," Potok said.

sigh...
Unreal.
I would think that with the current state of affairs in this country that folks could get past idiocy like this and realize that there are MUCH bigger
issues than someone's racial denomination, particularly when nearly our ENTIRE GOV is completely corrupt, lawless, and serving the interest of no one
but them selves and the "ruling class" at the expense of everyone else.
These same gov folks and their elitist masters must be snickering with delight that people are still focusing on trivial nonsense like this, it gives
them every opportunity to keep the robberies and trampling of the constitution intact without even being noticed...

From your source
Potok traced the onset of the incidents to around the time of election rallies by Republican vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin where shouts of
"Kill Him!" were reportedly heard from sections of the crowd.
This was proved false. Source

Give me a break, most of these "incidents" will be staged to try and divide the people. Sure there will be stupid people making stupid comments but
I doubt blacks will be run down by whites. I do not trust the Jewish Southern Poverty Law Center, they love racism that is where they make their
money. When you read this crap think about the source. SPLC is funded by AIPAC the Jewish bankers to divide the American people. They are scum and
this is a BULL# article. One random idiot doesn't make a racist society. Blacks and white Obama supporters will soon realize that our problems are
not black and white they are green, as in the folks who control our $$$$$$$$. WAKE UP!!

Must agree with sillyfool on this. No facts in the article and no statistics to back these allegations up. Although if statistics were present they
would probably be falsified just like weather stats. These type of articles help no one apart from the dividers and conquers.

If anything, I have actually seen more articles (here on ATS in any case) pointing out the opposite. Where blacks are taunting, mocking and
threatening whites after their "messiah" won the election. Oh but you'll never hear the MSM say that. If they do, they'll end up making some
ridiculous excuse like "They're simply expressing their pride in finally having one of their own as president"

There may be some stages however there will also be some real cases.
I think everything will be okay for now but come Januaray I think people that really are racist will realize they have to listen to a person that isnt
there race and then you will have programs.
For anyone to say there isnt racism, discrimination, sexism, prejudice or anything of the like is not around is ignorant and uninformed, there is
racism, there is sexism, there are people who are prejudice all may not be noticeable and some may even work with people that are prejudice they may
not act like it on the job or in public places but get them in private and you will see.
There will always be prejudice and racism point blank nothing can stop that period.

I agree. Civil turmoil is good for them because then they can carry on as they please because we are too distracted to notice. WMD=Weapons of Mass
Distraction. Just for the record, next time any of you think we are past the racial nonesense head to any store near you, ask for an application and
look for a block asking for Ethnicity/Race.
If we are past all that why ask?

Guys, nobody here is denying the recurring existence of racism. But lets take an investigative view of the situation. The article presented is so
incredibly generic and vague enough in the "evidence" or stories they present that it's hard to take them seriously.
This line alone from the article "We don't have any hard evidence..." is where they loose credibility. I mean honestly, how can you be so stupid to
say "I have evidence that hate crimes have increased due to..." and not even have the evidence to present it? it's Ludicrous!
Again, if anything, I've seen more articles here on ATS supporting the opposite (blacks threatening whites) than what this article is trying to
argue. At least those articles have videos or interviews to at least attempt to back up the story. What does this article have? Pure and simple
CONJECTURE and they should be ashamed to even try to present it as "truth" when it's obvious that they don't even have "hard evidence"

Man, this is all right on target. Did you catch the story about the gang of black guys that chased down a white man and dragged him to death behind a
truck?
Or in Mississippi, where an all white baptist church was burnt to the ground?
Or the white man that was beaten senseless and tied to a fence in a field, where he died?
Makes me sick!
BTW, I made all that up. None of that has happened. But I could write a news story that said as much and a bunch of white folk that have been itching
to feel wronged can jump on it and call up a pity party.

I said this would happen before the election finished. It didn't matter who won, there would have been racial tension. However i think it'll get
worse before it gets better. Lets' hope there isn't a catalyzing incident to spark it all off.

There isn't much of a basis in that article and in my opinion its blaming white people for the growth in hate crimes. Obama supporters and blacks
have been lashing out against McCain supporters and whites but claiming that THEY are the racists because they don't want a black president. The
finger pointing of racism never ends...

If you are a white, christian, person in california, stay inside...
You have to love the internet, another white Christian on ATS claiming they are being persecuted? Would you have the nerve to say that in public,
possibly to a gay, African American atheist?
I think people are racist towards whites and sometimes discriminate against religious people, but in America no one is safer from persecution than
you, and no one has persecuted more than you.

Hmm .. oddly I have not heard anyone say anything negative in regards to race...
I know quite a few people upset over a Democrat winning, my self included..
I think people see what they want to see.. and in this case, they want to see angry white people.

Yes Yes... More FEAR!!!... Be scared folks...lol go ahead and lower those vibrations!!!.... we need more division , Less unity and Let's not focus on
the fact that we're all in this thing together. The Sky is falling!!!... Personally (being a Black/Puerto Rican) Male, I haven't experienced ANY
hate. A couple of buddies at work are pretty pissed that John didn't win & we toss jokes back and forth , but we understand the game and that it
didn't matter if the red side won or the blue side (they're both puppets), because the names change but the game stays the same. I HAVE on the other
hand been on a couple of other boards and alot of the "older" (I'm 28) caucasian folks seem to think that they somehow lost America , Just because
there is a Black puppet in the white house instead of a White puppet. The funny thing that they don't realize is America was lost long ago , We've
been sold out. It's nothing new.
