Someone on the street today said to me in mid conversation.

"There is no Truth"

I said in reply

"Is that true? If it is true, then there is an exception to your statement - which means it's actually false. This statement commits logical suicide.

He went silent after this.

Does anyone else believe there is no truth. and if so can you explain why you believe this?

well in any definitive sort of way your answer is right. the only way i could imagine there not being any truth was that if life was like a bad martial arts movie where everything and everyone was supsect of being a "fake".

whoever's running the show could be so far ahead that we're locked inside a dozen different matrixs that must be unlocked one at a time. in this sense the truth would suck so bad that it just would, well, suck. after learning that everything is fake multiple times in a row i think your brain/soul would be so fried that the simple concept of truth would be appalling and you would just began to "exist" w/o any conceptions of what reality may or may not be.

"Bueller, anyone...Bueller?"

Well, the truth is...

oops...

Yes, your play on words leaves your friend in 'truth' limbo...

As far as OUR definition of the word truth....I do not buy that "there is no truth", but I do buy into the idea that most of the 'truths' that we deem as such, is a little more skewed than we think...

If you can stomach the religious tone in the following link, it may give a better answer/thought process to your original question..

Truth?

Oscar Wilde said it best.

"All generalisations, including this one, are false."

Nuff said.

But I wonder what the world would be like without the hypothetical?

I certainly believe in absolute truth.

For example:

9/11, there IS ONLY one truth about what really happened that day. Yeah we all have opinions or may know part of the truth, but the fact is, there is only one truth.

Or, the laws of nature is absolute truth.

Or, the fact that you exist, is an absolute truth.

I also believe there is only one truth about some of the questions that humans have asked for ages:

why we are here?
what is the purpose of life?
where are we going?

Sorry if my answer was not as simple as you may have wanted
