Bad blood for Musgrave

It’s no surprise Rep. Marilyn Musgrave is taking her recent loss to Betsy Markey really, really hard.

Musgrave, a Republican who’s been representing Colorado’s 4th District since 2002, became part of the Republican Casualty List when she lost in a landslide, even after the National Republican Congressional Committee doled out almost a million bucks (reportedly $900,000) for her campaign.

Two weeks after the brutal loss, Musgrave still hasn’t called her opponent to concede or to congratulate the victor, as is not only textbook but also mannerly to do.

Moreover, Musgrave’s ill manners bleed into her own team. Rumor has it she still — 14 days later — hasn’t even thanked her campaign staff. (Again, textbook.)

This is simply in character for this woman. She opitimized what was wrong in our politics the last 8 years (her since 2002). She tried to have Michael Schivo arrested at one of her debates - check this out:

Back to Tuesday in Colorado...a little background, first. Back in mid-July I travelled to Colorado and delivered a letter to Congresswoman Musgrave's office. asking her why she felt compelled to interfere in my family's personal affairs - questioning, in fact trying to refute the medical facts of my wife's case on the floor of Congress.

Not surprisingly, Marilyn Musgrave never responded to my letter.

So on Tuesday I joined about 1,000 citizens and members of the local and regional media in the Windsor High School Auditorium to hear the debate and try to get an answer to my question from Congresswoman Musgrave.

About twenty minutes before the debate started and after speaking to several reporters about how Musgrave had voted to transform her values into our laws, I took a seat in the front row. As it turned out, I was seated next to the timekeeper who held up yellow and red cards to signal time to the candidates.

But just minutes after taking my seat, I noticed a flurry of activity around my seat including about four uniformed police officers who were - I would learn later - called in by Musgrave staffers and asked to remove me from the building.

At this point, I had made no speeches, I had no signs, had made no attempt to disrupt or cause any commotion. I only came into the auditorium, spoke to a dozen or so reporters and took a seat.

Here she is, in her best demeanor, answering questions from the media:

I know, I know, the source is laughable, but it points it out in easy to understand terms: Ten WORST Congressmen

10. THE CHRISTIAN SOLDIER
MARILYN MUSGRAVE (R-COLO.)

Musgrave has made regulating the bedroom behavior of her fellow Americans the focus of her entire career. An evangelical Christian who married her Bible-camp sweetheart, Musgrave does not believe in the separation of church and state. She entered politics in 1990, running for her local school board on a crusade to end sex education as part of the curriculum. By the time her tenure was over, the schools taught "abstinence only" -- and offending passages in health textbooks had been blacked out. During her eight years in the Colorado legislature, Musgrave continued her moralizing, overcoming two vetoes by the governor to pass a state ban on gay marriage.

Once in Congress, Musgrave introduced a constitutional amendment to outlaw gay marriage -- which she calls "the most important issue that we face today" -- nearly a year before a Massachusetts court approved civil unions. "She doesn't like the idea of one gay person," says Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts. "So obviously the idea of two of us hanging out makes her very unhappy."

Indecision 2008 had this to say:

...Meanwhile Musgrave, who comes from the flat, rural northeast corner of the state, will undoubtedly use her newfound free time to explore other ways to hate gay people. Among other things, she could...

* Join the Rev. Fred Phelps on a "God Hates Fags" tour of military funerals.

* Boycott companies that advertise on the Ellen show.

* Use what remains of her 59 year-old seductive powers to "actively assist" the de-gayification of Colorado preacher Ted Haggard.

As for Colorado itself, it's going to spend the next 2 years at the bathhouse before getting a facial and heading to the Bette Midler concert.

I wonder when she'll stop crying and call to congratulate her opponent, if ever?
