What was that one with Charlie Sheen with the aliens with backward jointed kness that could jump like grasshoppers???

I think that was called "The Arrival". Actually wasn't that bad a movie.

A few of my favorites..

The whole Alien movie series including AVP

Independence Day.... Over the Top American Hero's saving the world, gotta love it.

Starship troopers, just fun to watch

I have to give mention to the most recent Outer Limits episodes where they combined all of the Alien Conspiracy into one story line. (I know its TV but still)

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. (1978 Version)

I was just a kid, 5 or 6, when I first saw this movie. It absolutely terrified me!
A modern day version of this type of movie...The Faculty...I have seen this movie a kazillion times, and I never get tired of watching it.

Contact.. Carl Sagan would have kicked a baby had he seen what they did to his CLASSIC novel.

I first saw Contact on the day it was released (first showing) and when the dedication at the end appeared, the 50 eggheads there and I all applauded. Yeah, it was a Hollywood film in the end, but his spirit was there. I loved that movie (despite the idea that anyone could hear a SETI signal through headphones). It was pure Hollywood, but what can you really hope for given popular culture?

That being written - my top 3:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Perfect
Solaris (the Tarkovsky original and the re-make) Perfect on both counts
Contact - Hollywood's attempt at big ideas...

(Def. a fan of the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the '78 remake - The original is vastly superior, different, but still superior...).

At the end of the thread (probably very soon) I'll add up all the most popular votes and let everyone know what the top movies were.
But I doubt most people on here would be interested anyway.
I'll do it later, when it's not 4am

Just taking a guess, but I'd say it'd be something like
1. close encounters of the third kind
2. contact (maybe)
3. Maybe signs..

I might be wrong, I'll have a better look later.

2. Mars Attacks- Non stop fun.

3. Close Encounters of the Third Kind- Mashed potatoes have never looked so good.

Enemy Mine:
Just because of the friendship that was made between a human and an alien and how misunderstood any race is when believing in what others tell you instead of following your heart. Great movie of the 80's.

Alien:
Just the alien alone scared the *snip* out of me. Popping out of a chest.

Star Trek " First Contact ": The Borg was an awesome concept of alien/machine ever created and them stealing body parts and souls of others is just creepy. And Picard wanting revenge on a age old enemy. Superb.

Thanks for the replies, PowerSlave and resistancia - Yeah, 'The Arrival' was quite enjoyable because it wasn't such a big budget, over the top, Hollywood extravaganza. I'm going to have to find a copy of it and have another viewing.

For anyone interested, Empire (the movie magazine) top 500 movies is available online: TOP 500
The higest placed 'alien related' movie is at number 3 ...... anyone care to have a guess (without cheating!)?
