The two fields are very related. Both were working with counter terrorism.
The APL at John's Hopkin's was working on Homeland Security issues, including using technology for terrorist surveillance. The same with the IT guy.
He was working at a center that handled monitoring. So one worked with the monitoring, in an IT/support role, and the other worked to help
develop the technology to do so. Very closely related, even when at first glance seperate. You have to go to the APL site to find the mention of of
surveillance issues. It COULD be a coinicidence. The first one, while very odd, and rare, could be a case of mistaken identity. Dark car. Possibly a
gang hit, with the wrong person targeted. The second case, again, could be more prosaic than at first glance. Maybe a relationship gone bad, and so a
killer was hired. When it didn't work out, the perp did the hit themselves. The line of work, of both victims, however, makes me think more could be
going on. These are actually the first cases ever where I am highly suspicous. Wierd. Again, connections can be made when none exist. I suspect random
criminal act in the first one, and domestic/relationship gone bad in the woman's killing. The fact that she didn't know what was happening, however,
makes me wonder. You think if there was a problem, friends, family would know. Possible domestic terrorism, or domestic-based terrorism by foreign
elements, or government hits. That lists what I feel is the order of probability. The first most likely being unrelated, yet seemingly related
"random" crimes. Seperate reasons for the crimes in both cases, but apparently connected, due to their jobs. Very strange indeed.
