Are humans ready to travel? Let´s start by asking the ATS humans...

Tomorrow someone you trust tells you there is a way to physically leave Earth and travel for as long as the brought Oxygen and Food supplies last using a limitless energy source.

No they are not crazy.
They ask you if you want to go.
It is safe.
You will be able to return safely.
You may bring your DV.

The length of the trip is negotiable.

Will you go? If your answer is No, please explain.
Imagine seeing Earth become smaller and smaller.

Can you imagine this?
Can you imagine the void?

It'd be a great opportunity, but I'd only stay if most of the world went/ wasn't here.

I'd rather be where there are less humans.

But I'd probably stay because I'd miss earth's lovely animals.

Yes to both. Just to be able to see the universe for as long as you live. Even in the void there will be wonders to behold that are masked by the atmosphere and the light of our sun. I would definitely want a good telescope and instruments to study with. All that I learn may never be shared with others but the opportunity to learn still overrides caution and any fear of death.

You are right ofcourse. We must explore and expand our knowledge. We are held back by known and unknown forces who do not want us to leave Earth´s atmosphere though. I wish I knew exactly why but that´s yet another topic. (Have theory)

I can say I have a fear of heights, but it's a love/hate relationship.. I love taking off and landing when I'm flying domesticly.
I guess this would be a rather long flight, as long as whoever is taking me to another planet isn't serving crappy airline food.

Alot of technical things are making me think more into it.

Where would I be going?
Would I be welcomed?
Who would be there/ is their technology too advanced for me/ Is it humans or Aliens?
What is the atmosphere/ weather/ gravity like.
Is there a in-flight movie?

Well let´s just start with the voyage itself. I´m sure the price for travelling above lightspeed is a bit much too pay: your relatives will be all dead and gone when you return. This is what it takes if you wish to visit other star systems.

I would keep it simple for now, maybe once around the Moon while recording all you can? Let´s assume sub light speeds for now.

Especially because your assumptions include a certain & safe return, but even without that guarantee, I'd be very likely going to.

I would go with only one other stipulation. I have to be able to take my wife with me. The rest of the people on earth I could leave behind with minimal emotional distress.

I would love to be able to see whats out there.

You can take whomever you want ofcourse.

In reflecting upon this, I wthink that even though I would love to do it , I would probably not overcome my fear of heights & voids.

Second best thing would be to bring some sort of digital video camera into orbit (or beyond?) to shoot what´s really orbiting our planet.

What would that take I wonder...?
