They just mentioned a report of a 7.7 earthquake in Jakarta and a Tsunami warning has been issued.

Story Here

A new Tsunami alert system was just installed in Indonesia.
It went up and running on November 11th. Just in time.
It's being put to the test very quickly.

That's a good sign, I was expecting the worst.

Any links to the report?

The Indonesian tsunami alert was lifted shortly after being issued.

The 5.8 aftershock is a concern, let's hope there are no more in the area.

Well, so far since the 7.7 quake there have been two more. One 5.6 and one 5.5 according to the Iris report. Usually there are a few aftershocks after the initial event. I hope that they are just typical aftershocks and not a portent for a larger quake later.

I am watching Iris for more updates.

Wow and no-one screaming HARRP, hopefully it was at sea with little causalities.

Wow.
Indonesia, what a place to be.
If you don't die from the earthquake.. you'll get hit by a tidal wave.
If that doesn't get you, some extremist muslims will blow you up.
if that doesn't happen, they'll plant drugs on you and give you a firing squad.
Beautiful place.

Funny thing I noticed for the second time in my life, I was lying in bed last night and I felt an almost imperceptable movement, my thought was 'I felt this before, like that earthquake that happened in India years ago', that I thought I felt when I lived in Toronto
And I also thought, there 'either is, or will be a big earthquake somewhere in the world'.
And here is a big one in Indonesia.
This is on the East Coast of Canada where I am now.

Can earthquake vibrations be felt on the other side of the world?

I am not claiming anything here.
I just find it funny.

But not funny for the victims, of course.
