Is this a ROD ?

I took a picture with my mobile phone. Don't remember seeing anything at that time. But that's what it looks like:



Well, just want to get opinion what is it ? I see birds left of this white strip. But this white strip doesn't look like a plane trail, they never go this straight up.
Location: Plymouth, Greenbank, UK

It could be anything moving across your camera's view when you snapped the picture. Phone cameras generally have poor resolution and slow shutter speeds.

Its either ignorance, trolling, or disinformation. If I had to guess, I would say it was the first choice.

RODS have been shown to be an anomaly of photography, they dont exist. For quite a while I was a believer that they were an unknown species, then I was shown the evidence and now I must accept they dont exist. Sorry. Not sure what you have here but it is not a ROD.

Rods are just images produced by slow shutter speeds and are usually insects. This one just happens to be reflection off of multiple raindrops with slow a shutter speed. These kind of threads insult people's intelligence. Notice how there's a raindrop higher up exactly parallel to what you're referring to. Do you not realise you get larger and smaller raindrops, and that's what you've photographed.

I think the whole ROD thing is ridiculous. What is up with that chimney?

Yer your right that chimney is way more freaky than the "rod".

They dont exist end of debate, I saw a whole documentary on why they dont exist and I was totally convinced. They slowed the shutter speed right down and it turned out to be flys and nats! I was really disappointed at the time, as I was a real ROD fan but when your presented with evidence so strong youve gotta go with it.

WOW! that's the best set of chimney pots I've seen in years!

The square one at the back looks suspiciously photoshopped to me and those menacing windows at the bottom are just plain scary.

I'm just waiting for the post that says:

"...Well, even though that rod is just an antenna/aerial, this IS a real UFO in that photo..."

then they go about showing us a black speck in an enlarged area of the photo.
