wow...anotherdad... what ..you got a bunker with weapons at your front door? don't you think your wound up a little tight there pardner? and they're coming for your daughter???? jesus!...paranoia has taken over. maybe if you started talking to other people who might have a different view or go down to your local congressmen's office and discuss your concerns in a rational and reasonable manner. you don't have to get all your news and opinions from World Net Daily. they tend to paint a pretty bleak and irrational view of our country and the people that run it.

believe me i'm not brainwashed into believing that our government is hunky-dory, but there are a lot of good and sane people that work in our government that are constantly fighting for our constitutional rights in the backround that nobody ever hears about.

Talk about hyperbole!

I posted this earlier...I'm sure the German public thought the same thing back then...

Well, let's look at this....Nazi Germany started a "Community Service" youth program too...

By December 1936, HJ membership stood at just over five million. That same month, This legal obligation was re-affirmed in 1939 with the Jugenddienstpflicht and HJ membership was required even when it was opposed by the member's parents. From then on, most of Germany's teenagers belonged to the HJ. By 1940, it had eight million members. Later war figures are difficult to calculate, since massive conscription efforts and a general call-up of boys as young as ten years old meant that virtually every young male in Germany was, in some way, connected to the HJ. Only about 10 to 20% were able to avoid joining.

en.wikipedia.org...

And, gee, no one thought it would be a problem...

As for voluntary service, I am retired Navy, but I CHOSE to serve for 20 years...I was not FORCED to serve for 20 years...I have an 11 year old son and 9 year old daughter and am totally against ANY "mandatory" community service...Geez, I thought that "mandatory" service was reserved for "convicted" criminals in this country...

Professor, I applaud you! You are the cruxt of what it truly mean to be a 'TEACHER"! One who only wants to enlighten, not expound! I cannot even begin to see what you must have to deal with on a daily basis seeing what other conservatives deal with in an academic setting! Thanks for your ability and your guts. I hope one day that my grandson gets to be taught by one such as yourself!

The only funny part of this is that many of the 18 - 25 yr old who made Obama possible will be in these camps. You got to admit this is hilarious!

You are right about those in the back ground, but.... those folks are in deep do-do if the thought and deed police start looking at them. The people that are being vetted by Obama now are just the ones to make it impossible for these good people to work in the manner they think is right. They will be obfuscated and targetted. They will recieve terrible job evaluations and be hounded out of the governemtn offices they now reside. Klinton started it and Obama and the Klintonites that he is vetting will finish it. They already havve the names and they are poised to strike!
I know this because I have many relatives in Washington right now who fear for their jobs because they have seen the periferals of this happening right before their eyes!

The three months in a camp will be "To Get You Mind Right"??? I'm sure the indoctrination proceedings at these camps will be very interesting to a constitutionist!

You're right,my friend. Here is a preview of what it will look like, right from the Obama campaign:

OK World Nut Daily for a start.

Secondly the audio clip iS very heavily edited, and in the part where he is going to say Baraks or at (home) the at home is cut out.

The details of this need to be looked at, if it means everyone in the US has to spend 3 months between the ages of 18-25 doing voluntary work in local charity hospitals, or if they can help in schools, clean up graffiti....

Well if they are gang banging anyhow, or unemployed, depending on certain parameters as mentioned below it is not a bad idea.

I have not read the proposed legislation though, so the specifics are very important indeed,

3 months at any time between 18-25... broken up? 1 month every year or two....

2 hours a week?

Or a choice to go and do 3 months instead in one place?.

Indeed the way World Nut Daily portray this it is very worrying but I will as shown above reserve my condemnation, which would viterol, all inclusive and very very loud if it is a kind of "Hitler Youth" of any type at all....

But in the mean time it may be a good idea... like said for hospitals, community work, staying at home, giving the coming 15% of unemployment or higher in the US education and references experience may not be a bad thing.

The important thing is the ability of the individual to tailor the service to their needs or likes and dislikes, to fit in with their and their families career and education and care needs...

Lets wait and see, I really cant see any type of forced 3 months in a camp ever being accepted in the US anyhow.

Elf.
Hello!!! To you and all other posters espousing that voluntary work is going to do our youth a world of good. Well I agree!

How do you get VOLUNTARY out of the word MANDATORY?? You CAN't!! what you are talking about is SLAVE LABOR!! And if you are O.K. With this, then you have NO business even calling yourself an AMERICAN.
This flies in the face of what America stands for. FREEDOM!!

Forcing someone to do something is called Slavery, not Service.

Hey, you voted him in power. Now reap the rewards of your Marxist President. Remember, now that you voted in Communism, you never get to vote it out. Obama will show you what it means to Marry Communism to Fascism, just like China married Communism with Capitalism.

And you were all worried about President Bush. Now welcome Comrade Furur Obama to Office.

In this thread, as well as many other threads on ATS, I'm struck by how many times people refer to the fact that they are "scared." Please do not be scared. In the context of psychological control systems, the external expression of fear symbolizes the internal submission of will. It's a gradual process, but you may notice that your reaction instincts are slow when called into action under such a mindset. It's a psychological trap. Please don't catch yourself in it.

Amen to that. Voluntary service is commendable. My kids volunteered at a local hospital for many years, but they weren't forced to.
In addition, what if mandatory service took the form of having people help ACORN register people that legally should not be allowed to vote? Or what if people that are against abortion are forced to work in an abortion clinic? What if Jews are forced to work on Saturday, or Christians are forced to work on Sunday? Obama's idea of "service" MAY not be YOUR idea or my idea of service.

Hey, you voted him in power.

Unfortunately, many of us did NOT vote for him. In fact, when you look at what ACORN did, and how votes are mysteriously appearing out of nowhere for Al Franken, I don't know if Obama got a true majority. I wonder how many illegal aliens voted for Obama. We know from news reports that ACORN registered many of them. Many states had no ID requirement, and all they needed was to provide an address. There are 40,000,000 illegals in the US, Obama won by about 6,000,000 votes. Do the math.

" In order to form a socialist government, it is necessary to
disarm the citizenery"! -- Hillary Clinton

This woman could be secretary of state.
Sort of off topic but I couldn't resist.

The FEC breakdown of the Obama campaign has identified a
staggering $222.7 million as coming from contributions of $200 or
less. Only $39.6 million of that amount comes from donors the Obama
campaign has identified.

It is the largest pool of unidentified money that has ever flooded
into the U.S. election system, before or after the
McCain-Feingold campaign finance reforms of 2002.

donations from the likes of Mr. Will Goode and Pro Doodad

Full Story - Good Article

On topic I'm afraid as I said earlier that there will not be
as much resistance as there is acceptance and "gratitude" from
the masses, they will say things like those I have already seen
here "It will be good for them" "It's only a few months"
paraphrased but you get the point. People tend to fall for these
traps because they seem inconsequencial to the big picture, when
in reality the big picture just got a little smaller, a little
less for the rest of us to try and protect.

The new administration is shaping up to look pretty scary
and just as before in history. It starts being supported by the
people who fall for great oratory spoken specifically to fire
up a crowd without letting them really think about future
consequences, and when they realize they were duped it's too late.

I think this time around people are more afraid because it is
so obvious, I mean they are telling us what they are
planning.

Obama himself would not concern me so much, but give him the
reigns and a congress drooling with anticipation that now they
can push through all their personal agendas with ease, they
might gladly do a little quid pro quo to allow his agenda without
a fuss, throw in Clinton and Emanuel and thats enough to scare me..

OMG. I've been keeping up with this thread all evening but had nothing to say that wasn't already said. However, that video you just posted is frightening.

Side note: Are they chanting 'Obey' as they walk into the room? I couldn't understand that part.

Yikes.

Read some of your history.
Famous characters who have started national systems like this and made them MANDATORY include Mao,Stalin and Hitler.

I suggest a sweet little bit of history Named 'Gulag' by Anne Applebaum to start with.

Well put, my good friend. Those youth act so much like the Hitler youth of the 1930's and 1940's that it truly is scary. It is complete brainwashing. That video was orchestrated by a teacher that had his own agenda, and helped them make that video. It is a preview of what may be in store for us under an Obama administration, Obama admirers BLINDLY following him pledging their allegiance to him, rather than pledging allegiance to the United States of America, the flag which Obama won't even wear on his lapel.
