Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State?

www.huffingtonpost.com

here are numerous reports tonight that Hillary Clinton may be under consideration for Secretary of State in the Obama administration.

From the Washington Post:

There's increasing chatter in political circles that the Obama camp is not overly happy with the usual suspects for secretary of state these days and that the field might be expanding somewhat beyond Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.), Gov. Bill Richardson (D-N.M.), Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) and maybe former Democratic senator Sam Nunn of Georgia.

There's talk, indeed, that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) may now be under consideration for the post. Her office referred any questions to the Obama transition; Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor declined to comment.

so if these reports are true and obama ends up picking Hillary as Secretary of State, that means the Clinton's are back in the halls of power - some may argue that they never left in the first place though.

Even with Obama as President, with Hillary as the SoS the Clinton's will still wield enormous power in running the country.

Interesting to note that if this does go ahead, the Bush's and the Clinton's would have been in power for 23 years.

That kind of surprises me... I would have thought she would be a perfect pick for health and human services. Still nothing is final. It could just be more media huff and puff to make themselves seem relevant.

Clinton would maybe be a good choice...the CHANGE we need!

"But"--- Yeah, I know, heard it before.

There just are not enough people versed in the world political arena to make a real choice.
My guess will be Richardson, payback for delivering the Latino vote, in some other cabinet level post.

You are joking...right?

Health and Human Services.........to even offer her that job would be an insult.

It's Secretary of State, or the first opening on the Supreme Court. Hillary Clinton campaigned unusually hard for Obama. There had to be a deal made beforehand. I'm leaning towards the Supreme Court.

Perhaps you are right... but considering her long standing interest in health related issues it would be a perfect pick especially if Obama is planning to push for a national health system.

Would Ms. Clinton be inclined to give up a senatorial position (which could mean employment for life - almost) for a transient position in the cabinet? I am not arguing that she wouldn't accept such a position, but it seems like a big leap towards an uncertain future.

Makes no never mind though, she is still in the 'blood line' and therefore will be made a permanent fixture in our political circus.

Well IF this happens it would be Obama's first mistake of many I'm sure.

You really want to keep that socialist hag at a distance while fitted with a shock collar and muzzle.

Note to Obama - don't hire people who are going to knife you in the back.

Way to shake things up in Washington Obama. Fill your staff with old Clinton workers. Wow!

I wonder how he plans to change the way things work in Washington if he's using the same old workers.

This guy is a joke.

I voted for Obama.

But if he does indeed make that witch (apologies to any witches out there) anything in his administration, I will agree I made a mistake.

The biggest argument against her is her husband. Now mind you I liked ole Bill but with Obama trying to establish gravity of his own he doesn't need someone like Bill around... I hate to give it to RR but the more i think about it the best way to neuter Hillary would be to give her a place on the bench.

Ya know RR has been making sense on occasion lately... either they've upped his meds or I am becoming senile.

www.huffingtonpost.com...

A Democratic official confirms to the Huffington Post that Sen. Hillary Clinton met with President-elect Barack Obama on Thursday to discuss her role in the new administration.

Clinton's trip to Chicago, described in press reports as "personal business," came following a request from Obama, the official said.

The New York Senator is reportedly under consideration for Secretary of State, but it is unclear whether she had discussed that position with the transition team before making the trip. "If they told her beforehand, she did not tell her people," the official said.

How about an ambassadorship for the both of them... someplace safe like Mali for her and one of the stans for him.

There is an old SNL skit about a woman given an obscure ambassadorship that's playing in my mind as I write this.

Exactly what I am thinking! When she graciously dropped out and Obama got the nod, I KNEW something was up. He promised her something, and I dont see anything wrong with that, politics as usual. I do think Hill has experience on her side, I like her.

I would LOVE to see her on the high court!!

How dare we go back to a time where America was loved? How dare we get people back in office who had the greatest economy America ever saw? How dare Obama want the people who balanced the budget back in power? How dare Obama want to make America a better place? Anyways, I could so see Clinton in as extra insurance. Think about it. The GOP hates Obama but... if they kill him they get Biden. Not too bad, an old rich white guy, but he's old and could die from age complications. Which means... Pelosi. They won't want her in so they'll kill her. Then who is next? Democrat Robert Byrd. Then who? Secretary of State! Pretty much Obama needs to make the people in line to be people the GOP hate more then a black man to keep himself safer. But then again the GOP might be willing to kill a couple dozen people just so they get a republican back in the top spot.

Statements about the GOP killing political heads, now is it? I'm pretty sure those statements qualify as political trolling as you have no proof whatsoever to back up any claims that the GOP was in any way responsible for the death of any political figure.

JFK and RFK. Both went up against Nixon, both took a bullet. I know LHO was just a "lone" nutjob who was able to shoot JFK from behind and the front. And RFK, who also went up against Nixon, was also shot by some lone nutjob who had no other motivation other then to shoot a Kennedy who went up against Nixon. And you know, it's not like Nixon would ever try to rig... Oops, Watergate. And you know, supplying bad people like Saddam and OBL... Oops, they did that to. But you're right the GOP would never be so desperate as to shoot a few people to get back in power. They just have their supporters calling out "Kill Him!" at rallies and get more applause for it.

That's it? That's the best you could come up with? Yeah. Not even Michael Moore would touch that ridiculous explanation with a ten foot fork.

And thank you, I know I'm right about the GOP.

Same here. However, considering that up until this time the name John Kerry had been used as a probable Secretary of State - I'm happy that it's Hillary instead.

I think Richardson would make an even better Secretary of State then Hillary. But Obama's not asking me.

Disgusting.

You're hateful partisan trolling on this board is getting out of hand. Hard to believe your still a member here, what with the new rules and all.

I won't respond directly to your comments because it doesn't do any good. I've seen your ignorant partisanship too many times.

I'm a Republican who voted for Obama. I also share the same thoughts. If he chooses Hillary, he's moving far away from the promised change. Big mistake, in my opinion. I want the Clintons as far away as possible. That would be change.
