Here are the goodies:

NEW YORK - President George W. Bush asserted Thursday that the global financial crisis is “not a failure of the free market” and urged world leaders to adopt modest financial reforms that stop short of the tighter regulations Europeans favor.

“Our aim should not be more government. It should be smarter government,” Bush said during a speech in New York, a day before about two dozen world leaders converge on Washington for a weekend summit he is hosting.

The term "free market" means that an economic and financial system operates without statutory interference and is guided and protected by simple, common sense rules. The system weeds out those whose investment decisions were guided by greed, poor insight and other host of poorly conceived ideas that mark any venture for a failure. The free market gives the chance to learn from mistakes, but if you don't learn, you are out. That's how the free market protect itself against dumbasses and stays healthy.

Does George Bush's vision of the "smarter government" include bailing out companies like GM who failed to adjust to a new environment? Does George Bush's definition of "being smart" include messing with the natural law of selection? The evolution of species worked just fine, so why is it so that the "smart government" wants to preserve the dinosaurs?

Is George Bush a smart part of the government? Apparently not. If you want to lie, do it the smart way so no could see through your tricks. But the President-onhiswayout once again failed the transparency test.

Notably absent from his speech was any talk about what the U.S. might do to bail out the troubled auto industry or the debate over a second U.S. stimulus package.

Some folks just never learn, but since they are not a part of anything close to "free," they could keep screwing up for eight long years. The Constitution of the United States is slowly turning into the Scriptures, because we are not just smart enough to update for the 21st century.
