2. Why would the US care? Nowadays it would be a very easy thing to monitor them down there. Now if they tried to put nukes there again, that would be another story. Why would US care? Well because of the same reason Russia cares about it now. What would most people say(most of you as I see dislike Russia) about Russian troops 50-100 miles from US?

There can be alot of surprises in life.

What rally sucks for US is that if they have a major war, the people themselves will overthrown the US government.

Look what is happening to US over Iraq where only 500-600 troops got killed in a year.

Unfortunately, I believe the US is a paper tiger. I mean, look what little bit it took to cut power to a large portion of the country. Our infrastructure is pathetic. The people is another story, but our technical foundation is a joke...

Most people in the US would not mind. The COLD WAR is over, we do not see the Russians as a threat anymore. With the current state of your military you cannot hope to challenge us in a conventional war.

I doubt he would be worried, until there is a reason.

Any USAF personnel on board may counter this but i think you would find that USAF fighters still intercept Russian Bombers on exercises near Alaska and Iceland, just in case its real.

Russia may be inefficient military wise, but any nation will be interested when its own interests are effected. The cold war may be over officially but many countries still ahead to that belief.

Although Cool Hand says the USA would not care if Russia set up in its backyard and probably is correct, i dare say the USA still monitors Russian movements near Alaska - just in case. The USA would not have a fighter(s) wing, one army division and supporting infrastructure still in Alaska if Russia wasn't viewed even remotley as a threat.

One stupid move by either side either on Russia's European borders or in the Pacific is all it takes. Russian long range bombers still are capable of delivering cruise missiles into Alaskan oil fields, hence the presence of USAF in Alaska.

As i think Russian said earlier, the Russian people are edgy when it comes to foreign powers. WWI and WWII where experiances they never wish to repeat. No one does for that matter. With whats happening in Asia and Eastern Europe i can understand Russia being nervous to a degree.

Lets hope sense prevails.

I just re-read the post by Sector Gaza, And I kind of take his post offensive. "were flying over nyc" I don't know if anyone caught on, but my uncle died in the WTC attack, and you saying that really pissed me off.
