People like you make me sick to my stomach. You coddled, opusillanimous little puddle of putrid puke!

Well a little more to the point then I would have put it, but I agree. People in this country think everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. Well I'm sorry I am the one to tell you folks this but these 'rights' you think the country owes you were fought and won with the blood of common day people. They stood up for themselves and earned the right to free speech and the the right to bare arms. What have you done to earn these rights? You were born here so you should automatically be given these rights?

I think at the age of 18 EVERY MAN and WOMAN should preform some form of public service. Whether it be joining the military, working at a hospital or homeless shelter, or some other form of aide service. Instead of hiding behind a piece of paper get out there and help yourself and your fellow man. Just so I don't have anyone saying practice what you preach. I graduate high school a semester early, spent four years in the army, spent the last two years in college where I am part of the National Honor Society, and regularly participate in food drives, highway clean ups, and other community events.

"ask not what your country can do for you, but you can do for your country"

The gov. is corrupt because we have been lazy and let it become that way.

True very true, I applaud everything you wrote.

Too many people (especially in my generation) have no concept of the sacrifices that were made to create and build this nation of ours. Too many people have no concept of hard work and dedication. Too many people of no concept of duty or simply doing the right thing.

I'm so jealous I didn't get a razor, but then I didn't get a SS card either. That might be cause I was already enlisted though.

You Beat me to it Medic!... I've never seen so much crying & complaining in a thread. Ok you're scared to go to war and get shot at and possibly have to kill someone... Not a problem, everyone isn't a warrior. Join the Coast Guard and be a rescue diver or go patrol the waters looking for stranded boaters or the CIA's Drugs coming in from colombia. OR you can keep playing socom or gears of war on xbox 360 and feel like a warrior in the comfort of your parents basement. Freedom Ain't Free

obligatory "A few good men" quote

Col. Jessep:

"Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and curse the Marines; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to. "

True they may never find out. Good luck getting a passport, registering a firearm, getting a job that has anything to do with any form of the gov., a security clearance (applied for a non-fed programming job and it required a security clearance even though it had nothing to do with the gov.) , I even think there is something about the SS card when you fill out your taxes every year. I could be wrong on that last part though.

Basically just fill it out. Chances of you actually being called to duty are slim to none. They will call the Inactive reserves, then the reserves, then the national guard before they call the 'general public' to arms. Probably not in that order but there are at least three groups of people that already have military training that can be activated before they call up people with out any military training.

You really don't understand and must not have read previous replies...in the past they fought Britian to get the rights because Britian was ruling them and taxing them unjustly...Iraq and Afghanistan or Iran soon are not ruling or taxing me or even not taking my rights away....the people taking my rights away is the US government...think I've made my point.

educate-yourself.org...

I wouldn't put too much faith into what that website has to say. IF the draft ever comes up, and someone tries to pull the stunt this guy is saying, you won't get drafted; but will probably get a nice prison term to deal with.

Are you really that ignorant you are comparing the USA to Korea!! Come on that is why so many people come here, to avoid having no choice about things like going to the army and to have other freedoms as well of course(I believe we already have a big and strong army and there is no need for this)...in my home country once I would have turned 18 I would have had to go straight to the military which is just one of the many reasons my parents brought me to America. That is also not why we have the terrible reputation. We have a bad rep with other countries because we get involved in spots we don't have to because we have no beef there. But we go there anyway...America has to stop playing World Police and then other countries might be more friendly towards us. And tell me Korea was a just war as well please...give me some more laughs...
