I'd shoot at my own cops cos they can't shoot back. Doing something about them first means I'm not going to have to shoot at anyone else.

I'mnot going to risk my life for my government, and if they want to make me, they are going to be risking their lives to do so- trust me.

Here are a couple of quotes from the movie on the difference.

"A citizen accepts personal responsibility for the safety of the body politic, of which he is a member, defending it, if need be, with his life. The civilian does not."

and this one, just replace 'human race' with the USA.

"A citizen has the courage to make the safety of the human race their personal responsibility."

Having said all that, I believe that things like service and voting are duties and responsibilities we all share.

The book is much better than the movie, but the movie was pretty good.

I mean, co-ed showers? Now, who can argue about that?

Well, to be fair, if it were a just war then I'd certainly be far more motivated to fight but they are few and far between. Take Iraq and Afghanistan for instance, there is no way in hell they would get me shipped over there I can tell you.

there is also another form has the same thing on the back and on the front has like all the information and stuff for you to fill in...

Every male citizen of the United states of america has to fill fill out the selective service info after they turn 18. Its the law. I filled one out too.

It doesnt mean you have to join the army or anything like that. As far as I know it is just there incases they ever decide to bring the draft back.

All males fill it out at 18 so just incase they need to there will be a whole pool of people they can draft.

I dont think you have anything to worry about. The volunteer army has worked just fine. We have no shortage of people wanting to sign up for military duty voluntarily.

Every now and again you hear that congress wants to reconsider bringing the draft back but they never do, like I said our all volunteer army is working just fine.

No need to worry. Just think of it as a right of passage. It is part of becoming a legal adult for men.

You can also register to vote now. Just hope you dont get jury duty. It is awful, Id rather get drafted Im kidding of course.

Marines don't dig foxholes, or sleep in them. We did dug fighting holes when manning lines at fire support bases or were tied down by duty at other static positions.

In the second paragraph they say you can be punished for not registering by a fine or imprisonment so that kind of does make it a requirement and I must say I love the last sentence in the second paragraph "Our objective is to register you, not to have you prosecuted." Well...obviously you want me to register since you give me no choice by threatening me with a quarter million dollar fine or jail.

So it's only free for women, illegal immigrants(to an extent), everyone under the age of 18 and over the age of 26, to those who work for the government, politicians who have never served in the army, and many more...yup I understand I'm suppose to do what the government tells me and when it comes to this topic I have no freedom of choice.
