Incidentally, "broker" was originally a "broacher," the guy who negotiated a deal, usually over wine or grain; he was the go-to guy hired by both parties to break open, or "broach" a random barrel to inspect the quality of the wine.

For some reason, I always picture a drug deal, where one of the druglords opens a bag of contraband to sample the contents and then declares it "very high grade stuff."

But then, I've worked around brokers.
