I think that many people who are ok with this civilian security force are not realizing that he wants this force to be as large and as powerful as the military. That's over 1.3 million people. Where exactly does everyone think he is planning on getting the funds to train an additional 1.3 million people to be like the military? Sure isn't going to come from the national surplus. (Hint: we have a deficit not a surplus) And many people who are or would be supportive of this civilian security force are the same who think the military should be cut in half, done away with, or think that their budget should be cut since they apparently don't need body armor or armor for their tanks. What really gets me is this idea isn't that different from Blackwater yet some are supportive of it since it came from Obama.

All this new force would be good for is enforcing any 'unpopular' laws the President passes, and of course, being yet another drain on our economy. I wonder how he plans to bankroll the whole thing, when cuts to the police and firefighters have run rampant right here in Cali for the past several months.

There you go, making sense!

Seriously, you are correct, that such a force has more problems, than solutions. One thing that was very obvious about Obama. He customized his proposals to the audience he was speaking to. IMHO, this proposal was just another example of that.
As I posted above, virtually ALL of his proposals have been removed from his Change website. I don't think he ever had any intention of fulfilling many of them. He promised everything to everyone. Nothing more than "Dreams from his father". Hey, it worked. He won. Now he can go on, being a politician, just like Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr. etc., doing what he wants, not what he promised. there is no difference between Obama and all the others. He was just a better orator, and people fell for it. His selection of Emmanuel proves he's just another Clinton.

Easy does it everybody,He is already saying he plans on repealing Bushs executive orders

He wants everyone to work in a new economy made out of green jobs that can't be outsourced,I know what some of them could be

I don't know what the security force he's talking about is ,but the constitution does call for a home land citizens militia, why is that weird?

As far as all this fascist garbage goes ,what do you think is already here if Bush isn't a fascist who is ?if Obama doesn't undo the fascist government we now have he still won't ever be the guy who who put it there. why is everyone yelling about the NWO when it has been here this whole time ?

The NWO is the OWO -old world order or the SWO-same world order

more fascism more totalitarianism more elitism more poverty more hunger more war more ignorance is all more of the same ,nothing new

Yes, he does, with his OWN executive orders. Executive orders, although granted in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, can be abused. There is a fine line, that unfortunately has been crossed many times, with executive orders. Personally, although they are widely used by most presidents, I don't think that the Founding Fathers would approve of the current wide use of them, to basically bypass Congress's law-making ability. Congress could pass a law that negates a Presidential Executive order, but the President could veto it, thus requiring a 2/3 majority to override the veto.

Wow.. you really seem to not only be over-generalizing, and marginalizing, but also casting the entire demographic of "Black America" as ignorant.

I'm speechless.

I didn't mean to come across like a stereotypical racsist... but yes, I will say many poor uneducted black people will gladly line up to serve a fascist agenda (did I spell fascist right?)

Would they do it for Bush? Not so much... will they do it for Obama? It makes it alot easier to to say yes.

Do you not see almost every (poor) black person chanting the name Obama?

Dude let me help you out so we remove the race issue. There will be a lot of stupid, lazy white people in line as well to help Obama out because he will keep telling them what they want to hear. You know the whole ideal that everything in their lives will be better if they just let the government have more control. Isnt that what the Messiah has been preaching for the last 2 years.

Umm, what did he say that is not blatantly obvious? The voters knew this, it's what they WANT. Our Dear Leader will make sure this Rep. will have an accident or change his mind abruptly. There can be no dissent against the manifesto.

There is a reason why you see a lot of African Americans happy about Obama being elected. Even those who did not vote for him. Yep, there are a lot of African Americans who didn't vote for him, but are still amazed by what happened.

WHy? Because, it has nothing to do with a Democrat who most Republicans are scared to death about. It has nothing to do with Obamas Policies. It has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that all perceived limitations for African Americans have been erased. This is a cultural victory, even to those who voted against him.

I think you are mistaking the ecstasy of realizing ones dream, for some sort of political allegiance. The two are not the same thing.

Actually that would be Fascist. We live in a free country so they shouldnt be ordering us to buy or wear anything. So the way I see it they do order us to buy some things and to not wear some things so we are already half way there.

I think it is great that African Americans are proud that Obama won. I would be proud as all get out if I were African American. I get that. I am trully happy for them. It would just be so much better if the African American they elected didnt tout a lot of socialist agendas to get elected. I realize it would have been the same if Hillary were elected. She has that same mindset. I just wish that we would have elected a much more moderate Democrat. Hopefully that is what Obama will become.

Considering this "warning" is coming from a Southern, Republican, white-man, I see no reason to be alarmed. He is a a fear-mongering sore loser.

lol, for one, a republican calling a democrat a fascist wannabe? In today's day and age?

That's rich.

From what I've seen so far, Obama intends to return the US to the way it was before Bush... but that's what I've seen so far.

... but that brings up another point.
Of all the countries I talk with, nobody has ever jumped to conclusions as fast as Americans.
You guys seriously need to learn patience. He's not in power yet, you can't possibly know what he will do in the end... all you can do is spread childish rumors... which you seem to be doing incredibly well.

Um... What does Obama need a domestic security force for? Especially one that is equal in power to the U.S. Military? Is there some internal threat we aren't being told about? Does this sound suspicious to anyone familiar with Adolph Hitler's rise to power in Germany in the 1930's?

No?

Okay, okay! I'm not totally concerned yet because it hasn't happened yet. Someone said this is like equating Boy Scouts to being a militant organization. Well, the boy scouts don't "idolize" one particular "leader".

So help us, if Obama changes the Presidential Seal, starts erecting posters of himself on every street corner, forms an "Obama Youth" Organization, and a lot of Conservatives start "dissappearing" in the dead of night, I suppose then I will be concerned.

Will anybody else?

Thankyou!

Signed,

Impatient American

Actually if you really had seen the full speech then you would not have said this:

Now, as to whether it will be a "Gestapo-like" force, of course, no one knows what it will be, because there have been no specifics, as far as I know.

If you had really seen the full video you would have heard him describe quite clearly what the "civilian national security force" actually entailed. You would know he gave specifics. You would definitely know he was not describing a 'Gestapo-like force'.

You would know that he was talking about civilian forces such as Ameri Corps, Peace Corps, etc. And creating an Energy Corps.

WOW!! A Georgia Congressmen is freaking ignorant!

For those that are not sure what Obama was talking about...

Listen to the full video, not the 17 second version, and you will understand what the "civilian national security force" actually entails. It is not an opposing military force, or an extension to the existing one. It is, quite literally, civilian. Ameri Corps, Peace Corps, Energy Corps...

If Obama was doing such a great call for a reduction of military spending, why would he want to make a Civilian Security Force as equally strong as the U.S. Military? Please answer this question in a logical way, and without the insults.

I'd like to know as well. As far as I can see it, you have the police and national guard for civil matters.

It looks to me like the idea of just retraining the police to violate our rights, and arming them with tasers and god knows what else, is not enough to keep us in check. And now we require some community gestapo as well.

The genius masterstroke of this is getting people to police themselves, giving a man power over his neighbour. Who wouldn't go for that kind of power? Anyone who has been around some of the shoddier areas of the internet, I'm certain will know a few power crazed mods, are we going to have power tripping "Mods" in our communities in real life also?

14 minutes.

14 minutes from the start of this thread until the 3rd post where the OP says, "I guess no one finds this important."

to the OP: Give people time to read the thread. I can not think of anything more annoying that reading a thread and then getting a couple post into it before someone says, "I guess no one thinks this is important". Seriously...14 minutes???

Back on topic:

The Congressman is 100% correct. This is what Hitler did as did the Soviets. Can I also go ahead and say "I told you so yet"? Everyone worried about Bush, and Bush staying in power, etc etc. I have said it a million times on this site...Bush was not the one to worry about. He was laying down a legal foundation for someone who will come after. So what are the chances that Obama puts all those new laws on the books into effect? I'd say the chances look pretty good.
