NDE's are really interesting. I can't say much for the "truth" contained in their message, though. By that I mean, there should be some questions we can answer to put us on a path to figuring out if NDE's are rooted in spirituality or the physical world.
Some questions:
Do members of other faiths besides Christianity experience NDE involving Christianity's Jesus?
Do Christians who experienced NDE's report meeting anyone besides what the Christian faith describes?
Do these NDE's describe an experience that 100%, or overwhelmingly, coincides with modern Christianity?
Has an Atheist ever had an NDE and experienced God or was there a different scenario?
Has a Muslim ever seen Mohammed in a NDE? Why not Jesus, if yes?
Do non-believers experience Aliens or a different higher power?
Can NDE's be replicated with drugs or some other manipulation of the way the brain works?
Has a Christian ever had a NDE and seen a different God?

There are many other questions, but it should be easy to ascertain first if NDE's follow along cultural and spiritual guidelines without needing an inter-dimensional spaceship. I would think one of the first things to do in order to prove NDE's as real would be to determine a singular reality for the experiences. Meaning that these NDE's are objective rather than subjective. Surely if you meet your friends and family in heaven, then there is only one heaven. If there is only one God and Jesus, why would there be infinite heavens? So there should be only one objective reality that their souls travel to, no? Science could certainly figure out what NDE's are, but NOT with the assumption that everything the bible says is true, Christianity is right, and God is real. It seems only religious people think NDE's are real, while everyone else considers the phenomenon real just not the idea these people have memories of heaven.

Just for your info, there is a large study being done, it lasted something like five years, in which they are trying to prove NDEs are real. The results were supposed to be out by now - not sure why there is such a delay?
They way they are testing the experience is to have a computer flash a word on a screen when a patient's heart stops. This screen can only be seen by looking from the ceiling down.

I'm very interested in this study. If proven, I think this is something that can change the world.
