My guess is the poor kid thought he was playing with a toy. It's certainly happened before... parents leave a gun out in the open, and their children get curious.

I think that could be understandable if there was only one shot. But there was a shot to his father upstairs and a shot to his father's friend outside the house.

Also, the updated story says that his father had taught him how to use it. So, I dont think the boy ever thought it was a "toy"

I just can't square the idea he thought it was a toy with the fact that he killed two people in two different locations... surely, if the first one yelled and fell down bleeding all over the place, the obvious reaction would be to run away? Instead someone else was shot in another area... meaning he did it again?

This is really making me start to think maybe the kid didn't do it at all. The police have all but openly admitted they crossed the line while questioning. Maybe they asked something like "Did you shoot the gun?" and the kid answered yes thinking back to a hunting trip... I dunno, I guess I'm still grasping for answers like everyone else.

You're right as rain about the responsibility issue.

I agree partially. If you own a gun and have small children you should teach them the consequences of treating a gun as a toy, there are many children in my family that were exposed to the reality of guns at a young age. Now this alone did not prevent accidents, the parents also responsibly made sure their children could not get to their guns, but I’m pretty confident that even at the age of eight they would have not made such a dire mistake- whereas children I know whose parents sheltered them from guns and gun toys might have mistaken a real one for a toy at that age and might not have understood the consequences of treating a gun like a toy.

I still don’t see how this boy, eight or not, killed two people thinking this gun was a toy. I don’t know, maybe he played too many “mature” rated video games? Let’s hope for his defense lawyer’s sake he did, those “evil”, corruptible video games are the second best defense for violent young people, other than that damn subliminal “devil” music of course.

You're stereotyping the "lesser quality of men who have had kids when they where in their early 20's."

It makes absolutely no sense. beacause a person has a kid early, I don't understand the connection you're trying to make about them being of a lesser quality. After all there's no better age to have healthy children than when you're in your prime.

Your typically judging everyone, in order to put yourself on a pedestal, and this is just my perception for which I may be wrong. If I am I do apologize. We do have to make judgments in life. If we feel the certain actions of people are a danger or go against our beliefs then we make the judgment to disassaciate w'them because of the fruits of their actions. I just dislike when people make group judgments in general. It pisses me off and is totally innacurate.

No different than saying all Whites are KKK or all blacks are ghetto gangsters.Do you understand the point I'm trying to make?I don't mean to personally attack you and if it came off that way , it's not what I meant. But you obviously talk about teaching in your family, kids to learn to handle weapons, and I agree they should learn.

But from what I read this guy sounds no different from things you're stating and I don't see how you come with the unrash judgment that he's white trash or thug and was a MR. MySpace Assault Rifle fashion accessory wearing loser. You yourself are using an Ar15 as a fashion accessory for your avatar to express what fits in your life. Just seems like the pot calling the kettle black.

He was a father working in construction, had a house and was a hunter which taught his child how to handle a gun (how the kid had access is another story). Also seemed he went to church. So just curious how you came to your conclusion. That's all.

Listen, I do agree and understand this guy is to blame for the situation. It may be innocently enough because he was lacking experience in life, (I don't know) but still to blame all the same. He was the one which unfortunately allowed the deciding factors which ended his demise. But for you to sit there and basically try to justify the deaths by putting a negative spin on 2 peoples lives and the details of their live whom you know absolutely nothing about is a very irrational, innacurate, unjust, stereotypical, immature and very unprofessional way to come to a judgment.

I just thank God that if I'm ever in a court of Law, THAT YOU WON'T BE THE RESIDING JUDGE.Again This isn't a personal attack on you or your character. Just that i disagree with your statement. I also love firearms and have the utmost respect for the country and nature( and wife beater tees) but still respectfully think your wrong.

So what if people wear baggy pants, it's just as unpractical as women wearing high heels and that happens all the time. So what, I swear just because its African American hip hop fashion people have a problem with it. Racist ideology. Your pants fit? Good for you... and if they didn't it wouldn't matter to me what so ever.

Interrogation video

How did a kid physically manage to kill TWO adults with a gun?

8-year-old admits double shooting in police video

During the interview, the boy's accounts of the shootings change from him never having touched a gun, to throwing one he found in the home in a closet, to shooting at a car he said was speeding away from the house.

He maintained initially that someone else had shot the men first and that he shot his father to keep him from suffering and Romans because "he was shaking."

During another section of the video, the officers explained to the boy that if he had touched the gun, a lab would find his fingerprints. If he had shot the gun, they said gun powder residue would be found on his clothing. The officers told the boy that evidence showed that Romans and Romero were shot with a single gun.

"Sweetie, we need to know the truth," Avila said at one point. "It's important. We have to know because what's going to happen is the police are going to find out."

The boy later admitted to shooting the men at least twice each, reloading the gun at times.

The boy initially said in the video that he handled guns only when he and his father went shooting together, targeting rabbits and birds. He later said he sometimes played with guns that were in the house and that he felt bad about not telling his dad.

Police Chief Roy Melnick has said the boy planned and methodically carried out the shootings, but the boy gave no indication in the interview that he had been thinking about shooting his father.

Melnick also has said that police had found no signs of abuse in the home.

Something is seriously disturbing and not necessarily about the boy, but perhaps how the case was handled.
