Why are they using foam as soap in bathrooms now?

I've just noticed how they are using foam in bathrooms instead of normal soap. Can someone tell me why this is? What makes foam soap better?

There are a couple or reasons I would guess.

1) Is that they can add a sanitizer to it.

2) It leaves less of a mess in the sink.

3) Cheaper maybe?

Just a guess but that's how I figure it.
