Why am I not getting anymore credit with BOINC??

Topic started on 30-3-2004 @ 05:29 PM by EliteXizer

I've already completed several more work units since I last got credit. Every time I complete a work unit I click update in projects and it sends a request for credit. However, I am no longer getting any more credit and when I do this my "Avg. Credit" actually lowers. WTF is this BS about? It is really starting to piss me off.

heres what genya had to say on this thread
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Thanx, too, to xn (as always!), for the explanation (now fully understood and taken on board!!) that to "get *your* credit", you're actually having to "wait" for the "third" person to complete the same unit on their machine (or, rather, that the pace is determined - in effect - by the "speed" of the slowest machine to return the result). Makes no difference to *you*, though because you're already crunching new units while you're "waiting". And,as you say xn, when 5M people are running BOINC, then the net result will be that it's *your* machine's "speed" that will determine the outcome effectively.

hope this helps

At least 4 other people processed the one I was processing and only 2 got credit. I did not get any?
setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu...

This is the work unit. My computer is the last on the list.

hmm. just a thought. these workunits now expire, which means that they have to be processed within a certain time. do you know when it was suppose to expire?

You have to process these workunits within a certain time. Under Work it says Report Deadline. I'm not sure what happens after a workunit goes past the report deadline, haven't tried it yet.

Oh. How tragic. I'll have to look for this date.

Well thanks for the help guys. BOINC is so peculiar... I wish it was as easy as the old SETI@Home client.

I just had some problems with mine. It kept saying it was delaying work for over a week. I uninstalled it and re-installed the newer version. you need your same id to keep yer credit from before.

Please check out my latest info on BOINC (in the BOINC thread). It reads: "A server bug was fixed that caused the last result from each group of 3 to not get any credit about half the time." This might be the problem.
