Britain is following America's lead in seeking compensation for petty offenses. For example, a man drops his pint which lands on his foot and because he was wearing flipflops, broke his toe. He successfully sued the pub for the glass being too slippery.

A doctor makes a wrong decision and patients get awarded lots of money. I agree that the mistakes shouldn't occur, but this takes money away from the NHS system. That money given away in the lawsuit could have been used to pay for another bed in a hospital.

What is making this country, and others, go down the tubes is that too many people know their rights, but not their responsibilites. Why should a soldier's family be able to sue the MOD for sending him/her to war in Iraq. If they didn't want the person to be shot, don't join the Army. Its people like that that lose the MOD funding so that the others don't have enough equipment to better protect themselves.

Any thoughts?

You got a point.

I actually don't have sympathy for people who join the army then are upset at having to go to war. What the heck did they think they were joining, the boy scouts???

As you said it is the funtion of a distorted culture, and unfortunatly is a direct result of cultural baggage shipped from America....
