Who Lost The Election?

Was it McCain or Palin that lost the election for the Republicans? One of the largest voter turn-outs ever and in favour of Obama, what is the feeling in the US at the moment, how are the average people reacting, why did they vote the way they did?

We all did my friend...we all did.

Who lost the election? As a conservative, I had no one to vote for. Conservatives weren't even in this election.

It was a socialist against a liberal. Not much of a choice, now, is there?

I dont think it was mccain or palin's persona, it was what they were laying on the table


i didnt vote for obama because he is obama, i researched what he plans and wants to do, granted i dont agree with everything but to me it was the wiser choice, my opinion, some will disagree, thats fine

but to blame on someone for who they are is ridiculous, otherwise bush wouldve never of won ever, haha

Alan Keyes is about as conservative as they come. Too bad he's an American Independent.

I think McCain would have lost no matter who was his VP. I think the media would have lambasted whoever was his VP candidate.

Bush lost the election for McCain with his 700 Billion dollar socialized wanna help main street but has only resulted in helping Wall street bailout.

George W. Bush.

This whorish Congress actually swung more to the Democrats.

Mccain did all that he could with what he had.


The only blame I lay on Mccain was his selection of Palin as running mate. She really didnt appeal to any of the important groups needed and in fact probably turned most female voters off completely. If Mccain had chosen a more qualified running mate it would have helped him tremedously.


I have to agree with the poster above....I lay the blame almost 100% at the feet of George W. Bush and evil Dick.

These two evil cohorts did so much harm to this country and the psychological landscape of the American voting populous that they made this race all but impossible to win for ANY conservative candidate.

You could have ran Jesus himself against Obama and he still would have lost. Thanks George for taking the low road, grabbing as much cash as possible and then making a run for it. This mess that we now find ourselves in will forever rest squarely at your feet.

You sold us all out and I hope you are happy now you spoon fed imbecile.

McCain lost the election because of his poor choice of Sarah Palin. Following Obamas lead when it came to how to repair the economy, as senators and what they proposed. I will say we all win if the patriot act gets cut back and net neutrality is enforced like Obama said he supported both.

I tend to agree with this. I feel [kinda] bad for the old dude, and his concession was that "real John McCain" that so many had hoped to see more of. Of course, so was the John McCain at the Alfred E. Smith dinner. Unfortunately, that guy chose to sell out so he could get his party's nomination.

She was chosen for sex appeal. Plain and simple. The opposite choice, of course, would've been Joe Lieberman.

Neither choice would've worked. Not in 2008.

This election was a victory for the dumbed-down public education system. People equated McCain with Bush and Bush with the economic crisis.

People were incapable of reading more than a cliche' or a soundbite, thus cannnot understand how much Barney Frank, Franklyn Raines, Jim Johnson, et al were to blame for the Fannie Mae failure and how Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid pushed the bailout through the Congress. To understand would have required thinking and analysis, things sorely lacking in the average voter today.

Palin somewhat energized the Republican base, but even she could not work miracles.

And McCain was not the first choice of most Republicans. Certainly not the choice of conservatives. He ran a piss-poor campaign also.

Republicans lost this election, by choosing John McCain. Sarah Palin inspired the party and actually gave us a chance. Now John McCain can go back to the Senate and do what he does best....compromising with Democrats, and making his party weaker.

The Republican Party had it all, and blew it because leaders, like McCain, thought it was so important to get Democrats to like them and seek their approval. Enough of that...we need new bold leaders, who does what is best for the party and not seek approval from the enemy.

Watching almost all of the election coverage last night they said only 32% was registered republican, down 5%. While democrats had increased theres to 40%. Then theres people like my dad who are registered republican but havn't voted republican since 1972. There whole problem is there base. And I thought that was pretty clear last night. They run on and take issue with pretty dividing, often religous, issues. While almost ignoring any core principle besides tax cuts and defense.

I think, and hope, they get away from this Evangelical and Neo-Con mindset and go back to the days of Barry Goldwater. They would have this Democrat then.

If the GOP doesnt drop the religious fanaticism they are done for. As in dead and buried. Time to seriously re-evaluate the game plan.

Also...it is time to make an effort to spin a positive message instead of the Rush Limbaugh style doom and hate. People are sick of it and it turns a lot of moderate conservatives, democrats and independants away.


Back to Goldwater conservatism and Reaganomics, back to a truly conservative style of government.

Amen to that. I strongly suspect that within four years, the nation will be begging for a strong leader with conservative values.

Think about it. With the bailout shoved up our aaaaaaa . . . never mind, shoved down our throats, a depleted economy, a weak banking condition, and tax revenues to be rapidly depleted, these liberal Democrats in both the House and Senate will have their hands tied.

They simply won't have the ability to engage in some of their grand, sweeping, social reforms. The next two years for certain are absolutely, positively going to suck. Miserably.

If the Republican party cannot embrace once again conservative values and quit out-socializing the Democrats, maybe we need a new Conservative Party, one where a John McCain can't conceal himself like a chameleon.

This all assumes however, that no one tests Barack Obama on the international scene, one in which he is woefully inadequate. Looks like the Russians started their chess game already today.

Is there another America anywhere else?

It didn't matter who was running for the Republicans. It was over before it started.

Right or wrong this was about Bush. People could not wait to get rid of him and go as far away from him as possible. Since he was Republican.. There was no way the reps were getting it again, even if god himself was leading the rebuplicans.

And those first time young voters, probably had no clue about the issues and went for the most POP'ular candidate.
