Honestly,
These things just pop
Into my head
They won't stop.

Try as I might
To end the onslaught
I only end up
Confused and distraught

Some are good and some are bad
But the jumble keeps giving
Out of what is called my mind
So please continue to be forgiving

When one touches you
That is my reward
For what I have
In my head, stored

Now onto paper
And out of me
It's let go
For the world to see.

The Sad Measure of My Life

[snip] you and the high horse you rode in on,
I hope someday you are made to feel small.

Sorry some of us don't get it,
How above us you stand tall.

Sometimes I don't get the joke,
Sometimes I don't see the writing on the wall.

But to be embarassed by anyone,
Is just no [snip] fun at all.

Honesty always works the best,
Remember that before the fall.

Not to stoop to humiliation,
It is the lowest form of them all.

This feeling is all mine,
Kept to myself, no recall.

The Sad Measure of My Life,
Thanks for reminding me, good call !

And thank you Rush for the title..... I just took it from there .... amazing how quickly it all spilled out.

I love your opening, and that it starts off with a [snip] setting the tone for the rest of the piece. I picked a word to go in there lol.

I also noticed the "all" rhyming scheme, and I think it fits well for this.

The Sad Measure of My Life,

HUGS Darling!
Your life is not Sad - Having you in my life, has gotten me through some times and your advice (current advice included lol involving the skirt) is exactly what I need sometimes

No thanks necessary. I love where you took it....but I have to agree with Carrot. We appreciate your presence in our lives. But we can't let others determine 'the measure' of our lives, that comes from within us.

And it's fun to use a different [snip] every time I read it.

HI AD, hello Ridya.

Crushing on me? Poor thing I am old enough to be his mother. (checked the profile)

Thanks for reading the poems, just my ramblings.

Some things are too hard to write
But out they come, me resisting with all my might.

"Better out than in" I am told.
Let it go before it takes hold.

Buried in the corners of my mind, bound.
Hoping it stays there, not to be found.

Our heads inside are often tricked,
To ignore the noise and the conflict.

One day the pen and pages reveal,
Allowing us to finally feel
What needed to be set free,
And finally purging, the thoughts free.

...or we can do what one woman suggested to me:
"Lets pretend Im 30 years younger! Hi Im 25
"
"Ummm Im only 19... :S"
"OH im so sorry!"

Why is it you are in my head?
Day after day, it is something I dread.

Preoccupied, you have my mind,
I find myself hard to find.

Lost in thought is my plight,
Trying to forget with all my might.

Time has passed, where are you now,
Do you remember me, will your heart allow.

I close my eyes and I can see,
The young man who listened to me.

Who wrote those letters in that script,
Who's every word, my heart gripped.

They are missing, as are you,
Time has gone our lives passed through.

Should you ever think of me,
Do as I do and let a smile free.

Circles

Some people talk in circles,
Bringing others down.

So certain of their wisdom,
But all it brings is a frown.

Forgetting their own foolishness
Wearing a thorny crown.

With there head held up so high,
There face frozen, image of a clown.

When they see as others do,
Fall off their position, renown.

Humbled and embarassed,
Like the peons in the "town"

--------------------------
Simple Words

Simple words are never as they seem,
Often a veil, a hidden scheme.

Written to avoid, or hide,
Used to boost a fragile pride.

Spoken in tones used to hurt,
Quick, abrupt, sharp and curt.

Some the wiser, they try to ignore,
Shutting it out, hearing no more.

Wounded and angry, hear the ring,
Shutting your ears to avoid the sting.

On it goes round and round
Back to the simple words that abound.

Keeping the silence, hiding inside.
Living the lie, knowing it died.

Luckily I don't hold a grudge,
I may be stubborn but I do budge.

Forgiveness is a needed grace,
But not warranted in every case.

Put in my place, was not fun,
Did me a favor in the long run.

Hope you are pleased you had your say,
Made me feel small in a big way.

Forgiveness is a virtue, I hold dear,
Forgetting is something I am not quite near.

It can happen it usually does,
Will it get back to the way it was?

I'll let you know if you care,
If you or I are still there.

There as it used to be,
It's up to me I will see.
