I think finally people are starting to wake up and the divides in your country are truly falling.

Usually I am very cynical about elections and especially about the US but to my own surprise I was very emotional tonight when I heard the news!

Most of the extreme opinions being voiced are due to frustration of a good country full of good people that has been hijacked by a corrupt system. They only have a choice of a lesser of 2 evils. Most Americans would be happy to see ANY president that was not part of our 2 occupying parties if he was really for the people and not the system. We all HOPE that the "change" is a good one, but what we really see is the same coin on the other side.

The UK really does commend the American people for their choice in accepting Barack Obama as the next president of the United States of America.

It signals a welcome respite from the fear-mongering (except from the loser's supporters) that has plagued the world over throughout the last eight terrible neo-republican years. It's a rejection of a deeply ingrained mindset that promotes division, self-interest greed, and community indifference. Socialism comes in many politicized guises, and if one cannot perceive how socialism is the bedrock of all nations, free or otherwise, then one truly is a enemy of the world.

Yes. America accepted a more socialistic route out of the quagmire that Bush & Co. plunged not only America, but the rest-of-the-world into, but what sort of socialistic route will it turn out to be? Certainly nothing formerly soviet-style, nor will it resemble anything of Mao's philosophy. Neither Lenin, Marx, or Mao invented socialism, but warped and twisted it for their own ends. Socialism, as the mechanism that safeguards the longevity of the reasons for community, for the birthing of nations, appeared out of the social instinct of early man. True socialism brings together freedom-loving individuals into a community of co-operation and equal endeavour for the good of the whole community. It is not a political process, but a natural instinct finding its greatest expression within the experience of one's own family. The tribe, state, and nation are simply wider expressions of that family experience.

Yet, there remain those who do not want to share in that experience. They want to build for their own family, even while the one next door suffers as a consequence. They are selfish and indifferent because they pander not to the good of the tribe, the state, or nation, but to self and their own limited experience and perceivings. However...it has been rejected by all right-thinking people throughout history, yet never denying to the ego of selfishness their right to pursue their lives in a manner that they believe is right for them.

Truly, if man is to succeed in creating a future based upon principles of equality, fairness, and equal endeavour, then he cannot but accept socialism as the environment by which he will achieve it. Yesterday, the American people unequivocally responded with a positive 'yea!' towards that goal. They soundly rejected divisive policies, self-interested greed, and indifferent mindsets, for a more faithful echo of the socialism enshrined within their founding document...the Constitution.

Once again, the world can look toward America and know that the nation shares in the same hopes and dreams as they. Well done, America. Welcome back, welcome home!

I'm an American, and I voted for C. O. Baldwin.

I just wanted to extend my appreciation to my allies overseas for voicing such strong support for B. Obama. We are very proud of his leadership and potential to bravely reform policy. I honestly hope he can undo most of the mistakes and illegal activity done by (the heinously unintelligent and wholly spineless) G. W. Bush. We have love and gifts for all of the people of the world, as we are all of your brothers and sisters that have come here and worked so hard to promote freedom from tyranny for all of mankind. We don't think of just ourselves. We are not all selfish. The majority of us are much smarter than that.

I think I speak for the majority when I say that we are not a people of extremes, but a people of moderation. We can't figure out how to fix the dichotomy of the political spheres' extremes. We do our best to elect a representative who will do the least damage and encourage the most moderation.

The bell curve seems to be accurate, and if you divvy political opinion into three equal lengths, there is a small red right and a small blue left and a significantly huge majority of purple in the middle. But, it's hard to write law that works one way for people who believe one thing and works another way for people who believe another way.

I'd like a call from Obama to all of the philosophers and political scientists in the world to scientifically analyze all of the Democracies of the world and figure out which form is working best and how to best analyze the opinions of the populace and FORM or CREATE or PICK a candidate that best fits the ACTUAL beliefs of the MODERATE MAJORITY!

I think of the yin/yang symbol as politics today, but actuality the reality of opinion has wedge of gray through the middle. I think we should all come to the realization that any extreme is crazy and moderation is truly intelligent.

Regardless of what the future may hold it was genuinely heart warming to see so many people today filled with hope and aspiration based solely on a single election.
So many people in adverse situations truly see this mans rise to power as inspiration for their own dreams and ambitions.

Heck, even I was moved by parts of his acceptance speech.

It will be so wonderful if the seeds of hope planted today bear fruit.

Not quite. The South is still voted solidly for McCain. I was surprised to wake up this morning to find the South hadn't seceded from the Union.

Thank you to all my brothers and sisters around the world for offering their congratulations.

This is certainly the most monumental day in my lifetime and if nothing else, Obama's election proves that America, or the American people anyway, is still about what it claims to be about.

I'm glad for America and the rest of the world that the lesser of two evils won. Hopefully the Democrats and Obama can convince the EU that democracy is the way forward and not fascism. I live in hope!
