This is a really incredible animal. It only has suckers on the ends of it's arms; the arms themselves have spines running down them - the translucent ball it rolls into for defense is great. Not my production and too many words over the screen at first, but good video none the less - I don't remember seeing this before.

LOL..I think this squid likes to pose for the camera!

This creature is precisely the reason I hate to swim in the ocean,Knowing that stuff like this is squirming around below my feet creeps me out.

The video kinda sucks, Too many words, and torturous music.

Thanks for sharing though.

Thanks for the posts! It does look like this guy/gal enjoys posing for the camera. Can anyone out there confirm that 3200 feet sounds right? I mean, isn't that a little deep?

Vampire Squids are deep-sea cephalopods, and they are found between 2,000-3,000 feet, sometimes deeper. So, 3200 feet is an accurate statement.

I saw a small clip of these creatures on Animal Planet once, and thought they were very interesting creatures; some of the adaptations to their unique environment are very strange! This video has a lot more detailed footage, and I'd like to thank you for sharing it

Thanks for the info - yes they are quite adaptable and amazing in many ways. It constantly floors me how many amazing things are out there most people have no idea about (including me!)

exactly, this alone makes alien life completely plausible to me.
the wild extent of life that our planet has in all of its sizes, shapes and color are mind boggling.
