I have never posted anywhere on this site before, however... I am an avid reader and felt a bit like this needed a response.

My major concern here is that after things get settled with the Obama term, everything will NOT be up to me.

I have talked to persons in Canada, if the national healthcare system is put into place... my health services will not be up to me as I will be shoved in with the same group that is now using public aid health insurance. They are treated very different, it shouldn't be that way but it is. People that I have spoke to in Canada are not happy with their health care they get there. I have been told the doctors are over booked, over worked and burned out. I believe the doctors here will end up being much the same. Thus they will be pushing patients out the door as fast as they walk in. We are going to end up with "drive thru" health care. Not something to look forward to.

I think the prices are going to skyrocket, especially in the resources department. I can barely afford to pay my gas and electric now. Will I be able to afford it after Obama kickes his ideas in? I am greatly concerned. Guess my fireplace better be at the top of my home repair list. That is if we are allowed to use them when the time comes.

Aslo, I am sorry if I sound like I am greedy, but my husband and I work very hard for what we have. We do live paycheck to paycheck with very little extras. We work ourselves to death to provide for our family and I do not think we should have to pay for those who choose not to. Period. I have family members that are like that and they take everything for granted because they get so much of a hand out. I have never got a hand out in my life and don't feel others deserve it either. It is simple, you work, you pay your bills and you don't spend more than what you can afford. All those people that are in foreclosure deserve to be if they are there because they have decided to live beyond their means. We have a couple in the family that lost their house a few months ago because they couldn't afford it. They couldn't afford it when they bought it four years ago and it caught up with them. They should have never made the purchase. Not my fault. We choose to purchase a fixer-upper and are doing it as money allows. You get what you can afford it is that simple.

I am not whining here, I am being realistic. I was not and am not an Obama supporter, not was I for McCain. People are right, we get what we get and I truly feel that in the up and coming days of our precious Obama administration... we are all going to get a whole lot more than what we are expecting and hoping for.

I am also one who really hopes I am wrong, unfortunatily as it stands now, I don't think that is the case.

And of course I'd really LOVE to hear how much you think Obama is going to decrease our national debt while in office. After all, that is the most important change to be made in America assuming you don't want our entire country going bankrupt as it is on track to do with 50+ trillion in total debts (5x GDP!!!).

Well I was going to expand my Biz that would bring 20 more Jobs. But now With Obamas Plan it would not be cost effective and we would just be giving what we make to the Gov. So We will have to pull back. Jobs will be hard to find as every Biz will have to do the same. Few Jobs means slow economy. Small Business is what make the country grow. Obama plan will kill the Small Business. 1 Year from now take a look around and see how you, Your Family and friends are doing and see if you are better off??? Watch the Unemployment rate the next 3 months and then you can see your future. It will be bleak.

this is all such crap. People making over $250,000 will have to suck it up and start paying what they were paying before Bush gave them a ridiculous tax cut. That's it. That's all.

I work for an accounting firm and I know that no one who makes that much has all their income taxed in the first place. In fact, sadly enough, sometimes they end up paying less in taxes than the average Joe (sorry for the "Joe" reference). I've compared the rate of taxation by looking at some of our higher income earning clients to those of our lower earning clients and almost all of the time the higher earners wind up paying less taxes.

It's actually completely unreal. A wealthy person has a multitude of deductions to take off their taxable income and wind up in a far lower tax bracket then they would be in if they didn't have those deductions.

People who are poorer don't have that luxury so in the end, they may very well wind up in a higher tax bracket than someone wealthier than them.

These are facts. Sorry to sound like a child but it is extremely unfair and we have all seen what happened to this country when Bush gave those tax cuts away.

I wonder how many voted? I have a friend who is the VP of a construction company in CA. He has no problem with employees being illegals. And, he has told me that some of them make over $125,000 a year with great insurance! So much for taking the jobs no one else wants!

Well you now have a good reason to worry because if he can renege on an agreement he made with the Honorable John McCain, what chances have YOU got that he won't think twice about it with you or his support of Israel. I too fear for this country now. We're considering leaving as soon as possible.

There won't be any United Socialist States of America anytime soon.

If Obama and the Democrats in Congress push too far to the left there will be a backlash just as there was when Clinton came to power which lead to the Republicans taking back Congress.

The military and the defense industries are very conservative. The military-industrial complex, as some call it, will only tolerate so much. There is a line and if Obama and Congress tries to cross it we will have a huge mess. I really do not want President Elect Barack Obama to become our Mikhail Gorbachev.

People should really take a more wait and see approach. Who knows where we will be as a nation this next year?

In all honesty if Obama and Congress pushes too hard too fast to the left our country will either have a coup, balkanize or collapse (Maybe all of the above).

Its sounds crazy but no one thought during the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia that in less than ten years Yugoslavia would fragment into civil war and Sarajevo would be ruins. No one thought in 1990 that the USSR would have a coup in August 1991, fragment and collapse by Dec 25, 1991.

If President elect Obama and the Democratic Congress are not careful, America may go on one hand the route of Yugoslavia or the USSR, but could also take the route of Jorge Videla and Augusto Pinochet.

Its really up to them to balance their reforms with actual reality. Its one thing to be idealistic, but its entirely different to live in some kind of fantasy world.

Yeah and yet of all the taxes collected by US Treasury, the top income earning 1% paid more in COLLECTED Taxes than the bottom 90%

Then you have sales tax, they buy more expensive cars and pay much more in sales tax, they buy more often and have bigger homes paying higher property tax. So they pay more in taxes in many other areas of taxation also. When ever my Rich Boss takes me to lunch, GUESS who always pays for it? He insists on it. Turns out the biggest giver at our church were ,, YOU GUESSED it .

I think maybe you missed the whole Blackwater thing. Seems there is a company that works in conjunction with the US Military already. Obama sure is quick I didn't think he could stuff until he took office.

Sorry to be a smart ass but privatizing the military started in the 90's. Go to just about any base and you will be greeted by private contractors. Obama had no part in that I assure you. I will explain it for you if you'd like, why they are doing it.
