The gentleman with the stick claimed to be "security" after a short, searching pause when asked what his business was there. Having worked in security for a number of years now, I can confidently call "BS" on that claim. Easy enough to check out, just demand to see his credentials. In NC, anyone connected with security has to carry his credentials on him at all times while at work. I did a two week stint in PA once, and again I had to have my license on me while on duty.
Regarding the issue of pepper spraying the miscreants, not a highly recommended move. I had to get sprayed during training, and while it was horribly annoying, It wouldn't have stopped me from wearing out anyone within arms reach with my little stick, even if I had to chase 'em to keep 'em within arms reach.
I'm a half-breed Shawnee with a nasty attitude, but I happen to live in a neighborhood where, at one end of my block, Farrakhan's hooligans peddle "The Final Call" on the corner every Saturday, and 3 doors down in the other direction I have a gang clubhouse, and I have no "fear" of impending doom. I am, however on a slightly elevated alert. Last week, some knotheads were evidently riding around the neighborhood firing off some sort of automatic weapon, but this week things have been amazingly quiet. Matter of fact, I walked down to the corner store this evening for a pack of smokes, and when I passed the "clubhouse", the boys in the hood were having a cookout, in the rain, no less, standing around the grill with their hoodies on, and being all manner of raucous. Seemed to be celebratory to me, God love 'em. Riots come, I'm ALWAYS locked and loaded anyhow (bad habit I got into years ago - long story), but I doubt it'll come to that. Not here anyhow. No profit for them anyhow. Only one of me that they can get, and I'm fairly sure quite a few of them would get damaged in the process. Law of diminishing returns.
All the same, I think I must live fairly close to Blackops719, based on clues in some of his posts. Comes a revolution, you got my back buddy?

I gotta go peep out my windows and quiver now.

If something were to happen, and I was attacked by a guy with a club, I would have a better chance of fighting him off without a weapon. Also, the mace I carry (in my car), has a staining agent in it, which identifies the assailant if needed. I know that mace isn't the end all be all in self defense, but it would give an unarmed man a fighting chance against an armed man, in close quarters combat.

But, on the flip side of that, Iam sure alot of people would curl up after getting hit in the eyes with pepper spray, you just seem like a pretty tough guy, and can take it well. Anyways, good points. Gave it a star.

Count me in. Im starting to believe we may not have much choice soon the way things are deteriorating. Either way Im down for whatever.

It's a big country. Some moron will do something like this somewhere. Or worse. No big deal.

In the abstract, however, if this happened to me, nothing could prevent my vote. Liberty or death.

Secret to pepper spraying miscreants at polling sites: it causes an involuntary closure of the eyes. Get behind 'em (before they can get them open again) and STAY THERE. Of course, while you're there, there's any variety of interesting things to do to avoid boredom while you wait to vote... a stick don't work very well swatting behind yourself.
There's other methods, but they tend to produce more damage, and I'm really a wuss at heart_javascript:icon('')

Well not all of the 2000 conspiracies are fantasies. Here in houston in 2000
3 seperate polling stations there were ballots thrown into city dumpsters the night of the election after they were counted. 4 cases of ballots were found behind an elementary school. All made the news here.

Guess who the ballots were for?

It wasnt Bush.

Now im not saying the election was stolen but there were some shady things happenning.

Some people growing up, said I looked part black. If that had been MY polling station, I would've found a way in, even if I got beat down.
But, I would've tried to have a camera crew to film it for posterity!

You support violence, racism and dishonesty? We won't make any progress until there are no people who support those things. It is after all a conspiracy to rig an election by using intimidation.

There is no such thing as getting even. There are only good actions and bad actions. Threatening and intimidating are of course bad actions.

Bullies are always weak minded people who don't know any other way to express themselves.

Yes, there were some bad things that happened during that election and many others. The solution is not to fight it by committing more bad acts. What we claim to be is meaningless. It is what we do that defines us.

I don't know why this happened but obviously one of these guys lives in the building, it's a home of sorts for individuals that might possibly not be wrapped completely tight, External Link to Rehab Center actually the other gentleman escorted away was possibly a resident of the building so who really knows if they actually did what was said beyond what we see on camera, if so it was probably not appropriate for the ocassion.

I seem to have the same problem about appearing too "white" went to a gov't office some years ago, they looked me up in the 'puters and read my life story. The lady behind the desk looked up at me and said " you don't LOOK like an indian" , so I asked her in the sweetest voice i could muster if it would help for me to go outside and come back in with some feathers in my hair, maybe a little face paint. Sometimes tact is not my strong suit.

Back to the "security" at the polling site - That fine young feller that called the police did just the right thing. No need to get rowdy, you just ruffle up your feathers and walk right through 'em like you own the place. While they're scratching their heads, trying to figure out why you weren't intimidated, you get the job done. Now if the gentleman with the stick tries to swing, well, all bets are off then, but you're already inside his guard, where stick-type damage to your precious self is minimized. Meanwhile, you're thinking "knees and elbows".

Wellllll now..... Fox News and CNN just called the race for Obama (again without waiting for the polls to all close - will they NEVER learn?), so I reckon all the poll intimidators can go home now. Better yet, that cookout may still be going on down the street. They oughtta check it out.

It's raining here right now, so I suppose the celebration riots have been called off for the night, but I still ain't unloading my artillery pieces. That would be out of character for me. It might buy me a little peace for a day or two.

If it sticks, I get to crow "I TOLD YA SO!" for the next 4 years or so, so I guess I better rest up.

Well whites were killing blacks a while back if they tried to vote so just standing there isnt much of a deal. also 99.999999999 of blacks dont care about these guys, the new empowerment of blacks folks revolves around finance and creating stability and an enviroment where the views of whites does not affect their lives in a negative fashion

One Ought Buck (0) will do wonders in that situation!!
