This is only going to be short because its only a short story.
My gran dad who lived in Scotland since he was 11, anyway he goes back up to visit the highlands every year, one year he told me he was driving
through the highlands and went through a shortcut up these hills, it was night time, he drove up the hill and he saw a very bright light in front,
then he noticed 3 black helicopters, they was hovering over him then a jeep came up to him, a man got out and said this is a very private area please
go back or you will be shot, anyway he went back that way i can't really say if he was lying or anything because when he told me that we was on about
aliens and that.
has anyone heard of a base or something up the highlands of Scotland?

Actually, there are military bases all over Scotland, and the British Royal Family spend time here in the Highlands too...maybe he just stumbled
across a security operation...it could be anything really, from security for the Royals, to survival exercises, to aliens...I suppose...we do have
hotspots here, but not in the Highlands, as far as I know. *scratching head a bit...*

i think he may have been pulling your leg, how would he know the helicopters were black if it was night time?
on the other hand it could have been some sort of MOD thing, without more detail it's hard to know. did he say where he was going or where he was
coming from?

Glasgow's nowhere near Loch Ness. I am intrigued though, I'm going back to Scotland soon to take advantage of their wild camping laws, sounds just
the sort of thing I'm looking for.
Don't forget to post the location.

If it was Glasgow then the nearest Loch is Loch Lomond, But thats not in the highlands, Maybe you have got muddled up?
And there's no hills in Motherwell.
Edit: I ment the nearest well known Loch.

if it is night time, then you shouldnt be able to see anything if it pitch black. But perhaps he heard the helicopters but couldnt see them. More
likely, they had search lights, or some lighting so he could see the coulour.
DO you think that someone who is dressed in black trousers cant see their legs if they go out at night? Granted it maybe harder.

With out knowing where and when it was, its very hard to say anyting at all, Did he tell you his home town?
Did he tell you when?
As I said before Glasgow and the highlands are two diffrent things and Scotland's countryside goes on for miles and miles in the highlands.
