Even as the Bush righwingers are smelling defeat in the air, they are allying themselves with American law enforcement agencies in an attempt to completely censor and control the Internet usage and reception inside the United States.

I really enjoyed all of the stimulating debates here on ATS and I will miss you all.
Ohh sure we had our disagreements, and we may have said things that we regret but it was all in good fun.
It will be hard not having like minded people to bounce ideas off of and
getting into heated debates. I for one enjoyed my time here on ATS as I'm sure most of you did.
Let us spend what remaiing time we have together fighting for the same cause. Let's work with eachother and not against eachother.

How can we get around the inevitable?
How can we all still communicate WHEN this goes down?, and it WILL go down.
I friggin' knew this was too good to be true.

Say goodbye to freedom of speach

Ok, I know this is not a ufo landing on the white house lawn and not nearly as interesting as a message channeled from Blosson Crazychild but it is important people. It is our freedom of speach at stake here folks.

Free speech is of course important. But what can you do except to try and run for election in order to create better laws. This is democracy after all. In my country they are starting to watch what is going on in the internet, which is good to a certain point. But it would not be nice not to be able to write what I think.

Some web sites publish only what they want. ATS is just like that. I cannot post anonymously without they censoring my posts. ATS has even very high censoring, because I posted 2 alright messages (in my opinion) and both was not published. This is my third post. Let's see if this goes through or not.

Seems like it's coming from a reputable source.

This person who wrote this article is supposedly a White House insider who writes an average of one article a week on this website.
It would be a good idea to listen to what he/she is saying.
I don't know if this person has ever been proven to be a fraud.

No, it would be a bad idea.

It would be a bad idea to think it was coming from a reputable source. I mean, look at the webpage and it's other articles. THe US can't even ban Lolita from libraries in the middle of nowhere in Kansas, but they'll receive support for blocking certain internet sites across the country? Obviously not.

Your powers of perception are amazing.
You have already concluded that this isn't a reputable source?
WOW.
We need people like you on this website.
Here we all are trying to figure out the truth and there you sit, with all the answers in the palm of your hand like it's just another day in the park.

The point is,
This is a story worth keeping an eye on.
This person isn't the only person who has warned of this.
Did you know that just last week this very thing actually happened in Austrailia?
People all over the world are having access to the internet limited because it is the last hope of finding any form of truth in this world.
It is free unregulated information.
Hardly something that is desireable if you are a gov't hellbent on controll.

The article is a great piece of fiction.

I got that glossed over the eyes look when reading about how the president is a figurehead (true) but others (more menacing) run the government. Also enjoyed the comment about the FBI and DHS.

I'm fairly pissed about the bailout and I have guns so I guess my internet will be censored. I'll probably be even more pis*ed about that than the bailout, but no one asked me for my opinion.

On a very positive note, I saw another more interesting article on the site about Obama's communist parentage. Perhaps we can have another thread started....

We SHOULD keep an eye on this story.

We should also keep an eye on pigs taking over the world and the moon actually being as large as a plate and suspended 30 feet in the air. Keep an eye on all three breaking stories.

The concept is like a frog trying to swallow a Volkswagen. The only method to do this is block everything but port 80 and 443. That would cripple businesses all over.

If it's passed they wont be capable of enforcing it let alone planning an enforcement. Look at the great firewall of china-it fails constantly with trivial techniques.

For those who say it can't happen: it's allready being done in Brittain for example.

several sites like infowars.com etc are allready being censored.

The key word for the future the elite gets off on is 'Internet 2'

They're saying they're going to allow the old hubs to degrade, so they can install this new 'internet' which would only have a couple hundred websites in which you would have to subscribe to one of these sites to open your own website.

When they don't agree with the contents, they can just delete your website legally, instead of having to rely on hackers to attack your site.. as happened to ATS several times for example.

This is indeed a HUGE item!

For example, how many people rely on ATS to get some news that isn't censored by the powers that be ?

that is only possible because it is on http:// www.abovetopsecret.com, and not for example on http:// foxnews/abovetopsecret.com.

Censorship of the Internet is allready going on for years in countrys like China.. their economy is raportedly the biggest booming industry on the planet, so do not delude yourself based on that 'naah, it won't happen, it'll hurt the economy'

Get the word out and protest!

So, where is the bill the article speaks of? Who is this insider?

I'm not going to say he/she's a fraud, but come on, this isn't information. It's speculation in its present form.

You can't. It's a mirror site with all the good stuff taken down, but with just enough information to make you think it's legit. Welcome to the conspiracy.

bye-bye oz interweb, was fun while it lasted.

nocleanfeed.com...

www.theage.com.au...

i don't think this is "nwo" motivated.i think like most new legislation it's just another symptom of modern politics.

these "public service" sewer rats just keep breeding swarm after swarm of do-nothing desk-jockeys.they sit around all day thinking up new crap to legislate.

"yep that's a good one mike,we'll need 10,000 more desk-jockeys to get that running"..they're the plague of the 21st century.people who have actual productive jobs are just roadkill under the legislative juggernaut.

you can just hear their conversations.."hey larry everyone's on the internet now, surely there's some way to tap into that market for us do-nothings?sure freddy..let's see..why don't we.."filter" it,we'll need thousands more of us parasites to monitor the thing every day!perfect!...do you think the government will like the idea?"..a few seconds silence, then>

in 100 years they'll be all that's left.they'll evolve into some nocturnal quasimodo-like creature that feeds on fluro light and lives in their office blocks.

Anyone who thinks the Government is not going to censor the internet - not do everything in it’s power to shut each and very web site down that's in any way controversial, a way to bypass main line pharmaceuticals, anti-government, pro-Second Amendment, anything that isn’t PRO ESTABLISHMENT?
You’re head is buried in the sand up to your hind end.

The Internet Security Act has already been written.
It’s patiently waiting - just drooling in fact - for an internet disaster to *Miraculously Happen* (false flag - or blame falling on Bin Laden the Boogeyman) so it can then present itself to the people in all it’s glory to do what?
*Save Us*.
After, probably with no vote at all (or one reminiscent of the Bail Out) it will be held up as law and immediately implemented.

So, back to playing World Of Warcraft all of you who think it could never happen.
No, the internet is NOT safe, and, it’s NOT in the hands of the people, at least not for long.

When I say *not long* - how long is that?
Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if soon after the new president is elected there will be an Internet Crisis giving the grand excuse to implement the Internet Security Act.

I hope you all like rice.

Great Post CBass - S&F!

Great thread cbass star n flag.

Your source sounds and seems solid. Any more info on him/her?

The inbred scum running America are very jealous and envious of the Chinese system. They are tired from maintaining their facade for so long. Can't be easy having to be a wolf in sheep's clothing on that scale.

If your goal was to control the populace you would definitely want to ensure "mandatory blocking of socially disruptive material".

Especially if the material was exposing how socially disruptive you are.....

Peace
