Fellow ATS/BTSers

I really needed to get this off my chest and have a big rant, and see what some people's opinions are on this.

I am an Australian currently living and working in New South Wales. I work as a barmaid at one of the local pubs. The legal drinking age in Australia is 18. We have been having a promotion at work over the past couple of weeks which is a bikini competition. Basically the girls walk out on a catwalk in their costumes of 'which sport they feel passionate about' and then they come out in their bikinis and shake their s***.

BUT

The manager of the pub has been letting 15, 16 and 17 year old girls enter the competition.
I knew beforehand that the girls were going to be entering the competition and I disagreed with it so much that I went to the police station and made an official complaint. Surprise, surprise, nothing came of that. The cops seemed like they didn't even really care at all when I was talking to them.

Now, there are two more rounds of this bikini competition left and I know that there will be underage girls entering. It's such a moral dilemma for me. I want no part in it, but I also have two hungry doggies mouths to feed, and rent to pay, so I can't just quit!!!!!!

Argh i'm just so frustrated. Any ideas on what I could do???

Whats wrong with the girls being in the contest? Is it a nude contest? I'm just trying to understand why this bothers you?

Because it's minors in an adult environment.
Does it sound right to you that 15 and 16 year old GIRLS should be in a bikini competition?

No, it's not nude, nearly though.

This is exactly what pisses me off about how things are in the states. If you are under 21 you can't even get into a pool hall b/c they serve alcohol thus the pool hall is always full of old drunks.. What do you expect teens to do? That's why the all end up sitting around smoking weed and playing video games, they can't go out and do anything.

You bashing a 15 yr old girl for being in a bikini contest is just lame. You do realize that in many other countries 15yr old GIRLS are of age to be married. What makes Australia so civilized that 15 yr old girls should be excluded from a good time.

I understand Julie to a point where you are coming from.

The sponsorship or encouragement of young women to be sexualised as "objects" is wrong, and seems to be rife, in modern society esp with Porn and and the horrific Barby type beauty pagents for 3yr old upwards in the US and stuff, teaching them to smile in a "certain" way, and wear very sexualized outfits, made up and looking being taught to act like fully grown women.

Look at the Cheerleader Norm in the US too.

But are they actually being encouraged to do anything similar, or act in a certain way?

Or are they choosing with no family pressure or reward to be young women having fun with other young women, as they would in groups together anyhow.

To be fair I thought in your country that you can go to most coastal areas and due to the weather, see many young women dressed as such, and obviously at the Beach too.

The venue does raise a question and if it is full of very drunk and suggestive leering men, and or if alcohol is offered to these women it is wrong. But if it is safe, they choose to do it and are not breaking any laws why not?

Lets be fair I know I was sexually active from much earlier than 16 the legal limit in the UK and most of my peers were to.

Is it ok for a woman of 18 to do this, but if she is 17 yrs and 300 days old not?

Naturally in most societies women have been Sexualy active from around 13- 14 yrs old, my God if they were not due to the young age in which historically humans have died we would not have survived as a species.

I think sometimes there is this "Illusion" of a lost innocence in modern life.

If you go back to say Victorian times in the UK for example girls, depending on their social status were working 16 hour days 7 days a week, and being raped by the "master" of the house when it took his fancy.

The young boys were down coal mines and dying up chimneys or being forced to go to sea at 13 -14. Most first officers on the Admiralty Boats in the 1800's were only 14 yrs old, and were second in command of boats, giving out Floggings and death penalties, oh and being Buggered by the Captain on those long voyages.

I also feel some women feel threatened by the Power of the sexual maturation of younger women, and slightly Jelous, be honest now if you have a tight firm young fresh body like one of those 16 yrs wouldn't you flaunt it a bit as you grow and learn the ways of the world?

I bet those 16 yr olds are not as innocent as you think as well, though I abhore older men chasing young women like that, if they are with another Boy of 16-17 what's wrong with that, its natural.

Im sure you have used your Sexual power over men at some time to, and even if only subconsciously.

So without actually judging them myself, seeing it and in what context, what the environment and people who are there are like, the words used to those girls whilst showing off, its hard to say if your anger at this is justified.

Just my thoughts to put it in a social and historical perspective.

Somewhere recently a Presbertyrian Meme on Sexuality has been created in the western world, just after WW2.

Kind Regards

Elf

If it were MY daughter being the eye candy for a room full of drunken older men, I MOST DEFINITELY would be opposed to it.
I would prefer her to use the assets she has acquired intellectually versus physically.
This scenario, in my opinion, sets up these young girls to only think they need to use their body to get ahead in life.
It's not just a bikini contest. It's what is going on in the minds of those little girls while they are strutting down that catwalk.
It gives them the beginnings of the wrong path in life.
Was parental consent given for these girls? Perhaps it should be.
Personally Iam disgusted.
OP, I understand your situation, and frustration. You can only speak your mind so much, or else face losing your job.
It sucks when you have to chose between your morals and values, or your job.

I'm SHOCKED that young scantily clad women are dancing at your workplace! This could be the most despicable thing ever to come to the attention of this website!

You need to bring this to the attention of the entire membership. I suggest making a video of the offenders and posting it here so that everyone can see this heinous behavior with their own eyes.

Aghh the old conundrum eh.

Honestly when were you first fooling round and leering at 16-17 yr old my friend? I think we forget sometimes when it comes to our own.

Have you ever ever ever as an adult viewed Porn?

Honestly now? at 20? at 25? at 30? depending on your age.

What about Dads with daughters now who are 18 and view & masturbate to Porn etc?

Double standards in this issue me thinks, not you personally just being honest about the big picture.

Those are 18 yr olds and some of the things done there are very in my opinion wrong and sick, but these girls dancing and stuff no contact... mmm

I totally agree for the 15 yr olds, but if the legal age for sex in Australia, and Im not sure but in the UK its 16, well its better they do this than actually , which is perfectly legal sleep with a 40 yr old, after wearing Jeans all day and being seduced by their Boss or plied with drugs or booze.

Would you Ban all cheerleading?

I find the Child Pagent's in the USA and the legality of 18 yr old extreme Porn in hollywood disgusting.

Not some girls in bikinis not being sexy and in a group of other girls.

Though as said it's all dependant on the actual type of "bar" and the clientel and their behaviour.

In much of Human history those very girls would have been married and pregnant by now.

lets keep it real and not reactionary and hypocritical eh.

Be disgusted at the multi billion dollar explotation of women in California, just because they are 18 its ok to be gang raped(paid consent eh) on film by 3 men at the same time.

If you don't want you daughter to "have those thoughts" or "think in a certain way" you had better stop her watching TV for ever, don't let her go to school, not let her interact with men of her own age when a teenager and definately not read a teenage girls mag.

Never watch a Ice cream advert ever again, and the like.

Infact you would probably have to go and live with the Hamish.

At the end of the day if it was illegal the police would have interveened especially as its such a global hot topic at the moment.

Best they do this sober and with other girls, learn about themselves, get confident about themselves and their sexuality, rather than waiting another 2 yrs going to the same pub on a date in jeans drunk and not having the confidence to say "no" in the car later on that night because their parents kept them locked in their bedroom.

AccessDenied no in any way shape or form am I questioning or bringing into doubt any of your parenting abilities or practices, none intended, just looking at this from the big picture.

Kind Regards,

Elf

There is no double standard here. Iam the MOTHER of an 18 year old daughter, whom thank god I have taught better than the mothers of most of the girls I see walking around.
If I were to reply to the rest of your post..I would be banned.

Well then many apoligies and if my post to yourself is deleted by the Mods I totally agree.

I did assume wrongly that you were Male, and maybe though it gives a perspective and contrast between the male and female view on this.

If you were male though, as I wrongly assumed, which I profoundly apoligise for, and there are many Dads who feel that way with their own daughters as I stated and I do find it hypocritical, if fairly naturally protective.

As said mother or father I was not bringing into question in any way your parenting, and from what you say it seems you are doing a damn fine job.

Hopefully however you can understand, that the main premise of my remarks are against the exploitation of women, and as you did when younger I encourage the natural and safe growing up period in teenagers years, confidence if you like in their and your Goddess qualities.

Rather than how I sometimes feel the closeting and repression of a natural part of life can lead to physically very mature women, who maybe are not confident or experienced with their bodies, and emotionally in front of males.

I personally don't agree with the sexualisation and objectification of women, but maybe as I pointed out these girls will be wise enough, and experienced enough with the attention to know their first perceived "true love" is doing nothing more than trying to get bragging rights with his Jock friends, and be confident to say "no" until the real deal comes along.

The attention would not be new, special and would not maybe evoke the same emotional response of acceptance at being desired and feeling "special" as such.

We all know females mature before men so why repress that is my thoughts.

Most men are still in teenagers head at 20 when women by then have matured massively, but if it is repressed im not sure its a good thing.
Not saying you are though putting that on your daughter, but being a sexual being yourself I hope you see the truth in what I was trying to say.

Again apoligies in much and lavish amounts if I in any way offended, and i fear maybe I have opened a can of worms on this thread.

From my post you can see overall I was supporting the safe maturaion and growth of girls in women and berating you for thinking you were male, and the hypocrisy we males can display.

So see it as one for the women eh.

Walks away blushing, but hoping my faux pax gives you an insight to a male view, and hypocrisy too.

Kind regards,

Elf

The laws in Australia are that unless you are 18 you are not allowed to set foot in a public bar, let alone provocatively dance in a bikini on a runway for a huge crowd of males (and yes the majority of them are over 30)
As far as the patrons in the pub are concerned, all the girls are over 18, which makes them fair game. What happens when the 15 year old goes home with a guy, parents find out, and the guy is charged with stat rape???

Well, I am a 21 year old young WOMAN and I am in great shape. It is not an issue of 'jealousy', it is an issue of law breaking and when I seek help from the police, nothing comes of it.

Let me see if I can paint a vivid picture for you.

Public bar. Drunk older men. UNDERAGE GIRLS dancing provocatively on stage.

Sure, if some sick guy really wants to see 15, 16 and 17 year old GIRLS in bikinis he can go to a beach, but thats his demented choice, and he will seek that out in whatever way he wants.... BUT as far as the men in the pub know, these girls are all 18 and over!

When I was 19 in America, I couldn't even perform(rock band) in an establishment that served alcohol without an ABC card. Much less drink or get in my bikini, BUT 15, 16 and even 17 is WAY too YOUNG for this snip.

I used to strip and being oggled by middle-aged men sux.

How the heck is dancing in a bikini in a PUB a natural and safe way for teen girls to mature??? How ridiculous! Age restriction laws are in place for a reason!!!
