Is that like when your house gets egged? I've always wondered what being tricked is like. Is it what I think it is like?

Yep.

Egging a house or "rolling" a house in toilet paper.

That is pretty much the "trick" of trick-or-treat.

I thought it was because back in the day, people would offer a trick or a treat. Like when I was about 10 years old, these people were handing out chinese finger cuffs.

I wish it was only eggs ot toilet roll that were tricks. here in UK "trick or treating" is relatively new it was called guising when i was a lad and we had to entertain to get our treat or cash, sing a son or tell a joke. a few years ago when my dad told a kid who'd been at the door about three times already that he had nothing left to give out the kid told him to **** off then and scraped his car on the way out. ooooohhh for the age of innocence, quick somebody pass me my rose tinted glasses its getting all foggy again.

Don't forget the ever popular 'soaping' of windows, or flaming bag of doggy do.
Totally classic.
