A member of a human rights organization, Mothers of Daghestan, has been found dead in Makhachkala, a source in the organization said on Friday.
Mustapa Abdurakhmanov, 42, went missing on Wednesday and his body was discovered a day later.
"A morgue employee told us that he (Abdurakhmanov) had been murdered," Ismail Butdayev, a member of the organization, said.
Mothers of Daghestan was established to support the victims and their families of kidnapping or illegal detention by law enforcement officers. It also protects people who have been persecuted either for their beliefs or because of the actions of relatives.
