Whenever you make a post, or even a new thread, you should be prepared, nay expecting, someone to disagree with you. In fact, as you hit the
Post
Reply button you should be eagerly awaiting the counter argument.
Why? Because this is a place of
discussion NOT a place of
agreement.
If you don't want to hear someone who disagrees with you then why are you even wasting our time with your words? Just start your own blog so that we
can more easily ignore you.
Abduction threads are NOT FOR PEOPLE who don't believe in aliens.
Sorry you are wrong here and are trying to fit ATS into your ill-conceived notions about what an alternative community is.
ATS is NOT FOR PEOPLE who believe in something (anything) so unquestionably that they will refuse to even entertain the possibility of other
explanations.
In fact, I think that line above should be codified into some rule or catchphrase. Like, oh, I don't know "Deny Ignorance" or something.
The issue of unquestioned belief is a huge sticking-point in conversations about religion, global warming, and abductions among other. I have seen
people in all of those topics get upset simply because someone had the gall to disagree with them.
If what someone hopes to generate is approval and acceptance from a post on ATS, then all they really want is the equivalent of a place to get some
ego porn. The presence of people with this mindset are not a benefit to a community which embraces NOT consolation but exploration as a key
tenet.
