I wrote this in the 90's for fun on Halloween. A local radio station recited it on the air that year and I recorded it. As soon as I find the recording I will upload it to my site and then link over to it.

Witches Gather

The moon is high, the stars are out,
The cave is where they dance about.
A fire burns bright to light the walls,
A little magick this night calls.

A cauldron upon a firey oven,
Witches gather in a coven.
Around the flame they'll mix their brew,
Where mostly anything will do.

Wings of bat, and eyes of bear,
Root of mandrake if you dare.
Blood of frog and lizard tail,
They'll even use a slimey snail.

Ancient words of incantation,
Magick words of celebration.
Books of words, spell's they'll weave,
On most every Hallow's Eve.

A dozen plus one an eerie notion,
Mix away their deadly potion.
They are unkind, they are not nice,
Spells repeated often thrice.

Little dolls made with sticks,
The magick number six, six, six.
An earthly guest rises to their level,
To all he's known as the devil.

Feet of hooves and eyes of fire,
He promises raw desire.
Ghostly spirits begin to rise,
Eerie figures with no eyes.

Bones of old they have saved,
Join in dance around the cave.
Shadows on the walls about,
Witches begin to scream and shout.

The fire has risen to a roar,
Now on broomsticks they will soar.
Through starry skies over streets,
Looking for children who trick or treat.

The hour is late and it is said,
All little children should be in bed.
Don't stay up late for that is true,
From within the darkness, they'll get you!

Not everything is as it seems,
Witches gather on Halloween.
