I voted, not that the results are in any particular doubt. I'm guessing 80%+ of ATS members will vote for Obama, especially given that foreign members may vote.

Officially didn't vote. You forgot the selection of none of the above/won't vote. The only person I would vote for is Ron Paul, but he isn't running any longer. Actually I don't blame him. If he did get elected, then I fear he would get assassinated.

Even if one votes for a third party, they don't have a chance. The two top candidates, there is really no difference between them when all is said and done. I believe there are goals that people behind the scenes want accomplished, and they will be accomplished no matter who is president.

seconded. There should be a write-in box like on actual elections, so that we can "vote" in who we believe in, instead of just choosing from the options we're given. this is the problem with the ACTUAL elections...only giving the option to choose from a pool of those deemed "electable" or "acceptable".

I was going to vote Ron Paul as a Write-In candidate, but there is no section for Write-In candidates. I cannot in good conscious vote for anybody on that list. I'm sure you will get a lot of members complaining about this and also for the fact that non U.S. ATS members may vote. That skews the results beyond credibility IMHO. The results will not reflect the true election results if this is the case. Good idea though. Just a few needed changes.

So non-Americans can vote? So what. It's just a bit of harmless fun. ATS is not going to somehow influence the real general election outcome

Jezz guys...

We have a new banner at the top of the page for members and visitors to cast their vote for President of The United States.

We've included the top-two candidates from the two main parties, as well as the leading candidates from other so-called "lesser" parties.

Results will be announced on Sunday, November 3rd.

I don't see the banner, maybe i'm not looking in the right place?

Also isn't sunday the 2nd?

True as long as we keep our discussion of personal data confined to the (visible) database.

How many people care that the exact timestamp and your IP are all stored in the web server's logs?

How many people care that who you voted for can be reconstructed from the database's access log or transaction log and the timestamp from the web server logs?

People, anything submitted to any website on the internet is insecure against any coordinated recovery effort (like from a government) because of the multitude of different places information could be hiding and the ease with which it can be reconstructed.

Just a few words of warning to the fellow paranoiacs out there.

As has been stated by myself several times in the past, we do not keep webserver logs. Our Apache web server is not configured to keep log files.

Wouldn't it be more fun and/or interesting if the results were announced after the election?

What's the purpose of announcing the day before the election?
