This is where you fail. You begin every premise with "WE". Patriotism is an American term. This will no longer be a WE or US thing. TPTB are not just American so its not like any "enemy" will be needed. The OWG (One World Government) is something totally different. You guys have to get the US, EU, Asian Block etc out of your minds when thinking about the OWG. This is something that transcends them all.

TPTB will never allow the masses to come together.

Re-read 1984.

We need an enemy. We need patriotism. We need illusions.

Borders/Factions/Countries/Differing Gov. all contribute to those in power.

Way I see it, borders/governments are an illusion for patriotism.

Here's a question.

Would a one-world government work and why or why not?

Keep in mind, I'm not advocating the "NWO" or saying the type of society where we live without rights and freedoms is acceptable, nor do I think the elite should be the ones making all the decisions, but honestly.

What if Earth united? What if we were able to set our major differences aside and start working toward the betterment of human kind? Is it possible? What about one currency?

Please help me out on this.

I think they true question is how it would it work...

They PTB are trying to push this as hard as they can and it is only take some time for it to come to fruition. So for it to work we need to all be unified in one banner and to one cause. Look at the EU even though the claim to be unified, individual countries will still hold their nationalism. The sense of pride and individualism would be the only thing that would stop world government from working.

I think it would work but the motivation would be hard to come by. I do not believe that fighting aliens would bring us together as one world. People would fight over the spoils of the war. What we need instead is extra terrestials to come and show us the path. They would show us the wondeful possibilities ahead for us, but would also make us see that to attain them we will have to unite as one and see eeveryone else as an equal. That's when you would see the purge, as uncooperatives would have to be removed from society. It won't be until we work as a one united world that we will be able to achieve what we are truly capable of.

I don't think anyone would like the outcome (unless YOU are one of the BOSSES!)

As with anything else greed, corruption, ego, and elitism would rule. Communism/ Socialism (the definition not the reality) would be great if not for the nature of man. There will ALWAYS be power hungry people and they will ALWAYS scheme, plot and some will SUCCEED in gaining that power and once in power the only objective is to stay there and increase the influence of that power base.

A one world government will be a dictatorship (either one ruler or a “group” of like-minded rulers like the “classic communist party regimes” in which everyone is treated equally #ty EXCEPT themselves… if it doesn’t start that way I can guarantee it will end that way.
Such is the nature of man.

No

The reasons why are in our history books. A one world government might seem to work for a little while but it will fall.

Never in the history of man kind has that ever happend nor will it ever happend. Even if some group of people try, whether they are good or bad, there will always be the opposite to counteract that. Not to mention in these days with all our religions and beliefs certainly someone would try and push thier religion on them and that never took throughout history and it certainly wouldn't today.
This is a very complex question.

People generally say "NWO" like its some heartless beast that's coming for us all.

I think our "governments" now are exactly that.
They make the rules, we have to follow them.. no matter how crap they are.
We have NO say as individuals and we probably never will.

I live in Australia, so I'm 1 out of 21,000,000.
Basically I'm a ant.

If there was a World Government.. I'd be 1 out of 7,000,000,000.
At this point I'm barely bacteria.

Who's going to listen to me, or you?
Besides, I like my borders where they are.. not that they mean anything.

Oh wow i knew one of these would post. Okay, if the aliens were hosgtile how would that show us the path? That they were able to "unite" to a point to allow them to travel elsewhere and inflict their harm?

You sound like the same typ of person that would say the US is already doing that but yet you would welcome aliens with open arms because they are SO knowlegable. LOL Un-freaking-real.

Not sure about a world government, I can't see many countries giving up their sovereignty that easily.

But I love the idea of all governments being held accountable for their actions to the world's people.

Maybe through a huge discussion forum, e.g. ATSNN?

For a one world government to work, we need a one world economy, and an end to economic imperialism.

To a certain extent, we have a one world economy right now, simply because nearly every economy relies on other economies to a greater or lesser extent.

The problem is going to be (if OWG is to succeed) that the wealth needs to be distributed evenly across the globe for all nations who are members of a world government, otherwise, if there are few or no borders, then economic migration will decimate some countries, whether by overcrowding or by leaving them short of the skills needed to play their role in the economy.

I can envisage a future where different countries have responsibility for different goods and services, with food growth/manufacturing being evenly spread across fertile area's and everyone having the same choices at the same prices.

Of course for this to work, there would have to be a huge shift in thinking, and there would be no place for selfish people or people who want more than their share.

In other words, it ain't gonna happen anytime soon.
