Obama Affinity to Marxists Dates Back to College Days

elections.foxnews.com

Barack Obama shrugs off charges of socialism, but noted in his own memoir that he carefully chose Marxist professors as friends in college.
Barack Obama laughs off charges of socialism. Joe Biden scoffs at references to Marxism. Both men shrug off accusations of liberalism.

But Obama himself acknowledges that he was drawn to socialists and even Marxists as a college student. He continued to associate with Marxists later in life, even choosing to launch his political career in the living room of a self-described Marxist, William Ayers, in 1995, when Obama was 34.

Obama's affinity for Marxists began when he attended Occidental College in Los Angeles.

"To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully," the Democratic presidential candidate wrote in his memoir, "Dreams From My Father." "The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists."

I have a real problem with this.. The man WROTE in HIS OWN BOOK that he did these things sought out these people whom most of which where against the usa's standards in the first place. He openly admitted for years he was like this. But now that he is running for president he no longer is the same man he has aspired to be. Alligning himself to these types of people all his life then suddenly not having ever done it is in its self a grim reminder of peoples complacentcy to fact. In the face of their own ideals.

He is like any other politician: He is a liar. Being a liar is not in conflict with any of your suggestions.

The purpose of higher education is to explore different ways of looking at the world, And break the bonds of public school indoctrination.

To condemn a man for his college associations is just plain stupid.

I'm a completely different man than when I was at University.

Maturation is a strange thing, but it happens to everyone unless the programing was successful.

Good luck with the negativity! It's working great so far.

Obama affinity to Marxism ... remember he's a Law Professor and is very well versed in Constitutional law. He's actually mentioned the need to re establish Habeas Corpus but honestly he's probably seen too many Americans eyes glaze over when he actually does.

What we should be aware, of due to it's potential imminence is the Bush family ties to Fascism dating back to the 1930's which is considerably more pertinent.
Realize all of the parallels we have with Nazi Germany's rise to power and Bush's Patriot Act which so similarly supersedes our Constitution - The Supreme Law of the Land. His Patriot Act also conveniently provides GW Bush with dictatorial powers over the USA in the event of an "Emergency".
As in any legal matter, one has to question the definition of "Emergency"?

If he and his co-conspirator Dick weren't up to no Good then they both wouldn't have already established their foreign hideouts, Bush's coincidentally in the NAZI friendly country of Paraguay I might add. AND Both with diplomatic immunity.

Obama, ...he's a corporate sponsored puppet. But not part of the inner circle.
He'll probably end up eventually as JFK did when he got in the way of the Illuminati if he were to be elected.

How is being a member of a minority group, or studying different academic subjects such as structural feminism, or being a foreign student, un-American? Is narrow-minded ignorance the
American way?

I'm a college professor and many of my colleagues hold differing views from me. Though I often disagree with some of them they are still valued associates, respected for their knowledge and expertise. When I was a college student I, too, explored the various ideas and ideologies that were presented to me as part of my education. I came to reject some of them, but I am much better for the experience.

I am not a communist and never have been. Still, I respect the views of those who see the world differently than I do. That is a hallmark of an educated person. And yes, I have read some Karl Marx. It is just ideas, after all, not the spawn of satan. I would strongly oppose anyone who advocated violence of any kind, for instance, but for the most part there is nothing to fear from trying to understand other ideas.

I respect Obama all the more for his intellectual curiosity and his open-minded approach toward those who disagree with him.

What can you expect, though, from Fox News? They would have us all afraid of the idea that he ever even discussed controversial subjects with anybody. Anything they can do to make us think Obama is a bogeyman they will do. It's no secret who they support in this election.

Really...with every passing day it seems that more and more McCain supporters are willing to trade their honor and dignity for desperation. Speak lies, distort facts, appeal to fear anything to win...

Concerning this sillyness....

Obama is speaking to his search for his own identity and insecurity.
He also mentions in the same sentence punk rock and poets...Lets slam him for having TIES TO PUNK ROCKERS"...yah that will work!

From Factcheck.org
www.factcheck.org...

Actual quote from "Dreams from My Father" [pg. 100-101]: To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night, in the dorms, we discussed necolonialism, Franz Fanon, Eurocentrism, and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting bourgeois society's stifling constraints. We weren't indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated. But this strategy alone couldn't provide the distance I wanted, from Joyce or my past. After all, there were thousands of so-called campus radicals, most of them white and tenured and happily tolerated.

---

On its own, the quote makes Obama appear racially militant. Whereas, in full context, the quote illustrates Obama's confusion over his race and cultural heritage. This is emphasized in the preceding paragraph, where Obama describes himself as someone compensating for insecurity in his "racial credentials."
