fractal avatars by americandingbat

I've been playing around with a fractal generator (FractalWorks) and learning to use the Gimp. These are some ATS-style avatars I put together for practice.

If anyone would like to use one, just let me know so I can replace my name with yours and stuff.

To make the fractals I used FractalWorks which is freeware for the Macintosh (it does require a pretty up-to-date system)

I'm having so much fun with them. It only has two types, the Mandelbrot set and the Julia set, but you can totally play with the colors and explore the different parts of the Mandelbrot set, etcetera.

You can save as a jpg from FractalWorks, and then I used Gimp for the resizing, text, and framing.

i almost forgot that you got a mac to
i run OS X.4 which is pretty up to date

i will have a very close look, and getting them in photoshop is quiet easy

Thanks. I've got most of the basics down I think, but I haven't begun to look at all the plug-ins that are available, and I still don't understand most of the more esoteric filters.

But learning is a lot of fun, and I remember things best if I learn while doing anyway

And yep, Macintosh all the way. My first computer (well, my parents') was an Apple IIe I think, back in about 1985. I've never had anything else.

but since 1990 only macinthosh
started with a SE now i got a G4 double hertz - dual processor!
