Michael Savage endorses John McCain

Tonight on the Michael Savage show, he declared his endorsement of John McCain for POTUS. It was not so much his love for McCain as his disdain for Obama that made up his mind. He warned of a dangerous socialist takeover of the US if Obama wins.

I bring this up because Savage has many listeners and followers, including many here on ATS.

I'm sure that, somewhere, Obama staffers are popping the cork off of a bottle of champagne. Thank you Michael Savage!!!

And if indeed your assertion is true that there are many members of ATS who follow Mr. Savage...I hereby renounce my membership.

How sad for Senator McCain that people aren't necessarily voting "for" him but against the internet propaganda that has been spewed against Obama.

I thought Savage was going to form his own political party??

To the previous poster who seemed to be indicating that this is a good thing for Obama...think again. Savage has over 10 million listeners per week. It is probably true though that a majority of those listeners lean towards the conservative viewpoint and wouldn't have voted for Obama anyways.

Well, sometimes I tune in as well...to laugh. And to judge mercilessly those who would agree with any of the ignorant, hate-filled tripe that comes out of his mouth.

You're right - Savage has an enormous following (on far right wing conservative talk radio) - might be hard to find one of his followers/listeners who are going to vote Obama so what's the big deal? The first thought that came into my mind was that recent SNL skit where Bush endorses McCain/Palin - now Savage! Who next? David Duke?

On a side note...glen beck endorsed Sarah Palin today...but not the other candidates.

Savage makes me laugh at times, as well as pissing me off royaly at times.

His endorsement of McCain will not help much as most persons who agree with Savage already droll over Palin/McCain ticket.

There are alot of conservatives that are going to have a hard time voting for McCain, myself included. I am justifying my vote as a vote against Obama, and a vote for Sarah Palin, knowing Michael Savage and Glen Beck are doing the same could convince alot of conservatives to do the same. We will now join the Silent Majority to ensure an Obama defeat.

Agreed, this is the situation I find myself in. I think McCain is a crappy conservative candidate. Unlike you apparently, I also don't think Palin is qualified for the position.

It would be pretty hard to ever get me to swing democrat and the ticket they're offering is just as abyssmal. Obama isn't qualified and, despite those arguing to the contrary, he is going to swing the US towards socialism. Biden?? Please. Does nobody find it odd that a candidate who's running on a policy of changing Washington politics picked a slick, lifetime politician as his running mate? Out of all 4, I trust Biden the least.

This election is a complete joke. Part of me is considering voting McCain just as a vote against Obama. A larger part of me is considering sitting this one out. PA is going to go for Obama anyways so why should I waste my time voting for a candidate I don't like?

I listen to very little radio, but I have caught Savage in spurts over the last decade. He had ideas I agreed with, back in the day - I just remembering thinking, yeah... But for the last number of years, I have frankly been horrified.

That HE is subtly reinforcing the Us vs. Them notion - the lesser of two, not the intelligent choice... The Who else is out there? discussion...

Disgusting, that man. Disgusting, all.

That we tie ourselves to the lie that a vote outside that duality is "wasted" is beyond me.

Anyway, another twitch in the elephant's flank as we watch the Election Show!

Yeah, I feel the same way. His endorsement of McCain is sort of a dead-pan comedic effort. Some will chuckle and some will groan in disappointment. It really doesn't amount to much of anything and no one is going to remember this tomorrow. Don't expect to read about it in the paper or hear anyone on MSNBC mention it.

I listened to his show some and even bought his Political Zoo book. It was worth the read. I don't think he has much influence on anyone's voting decision though. Definitely not mine.
