NO, his previous record speaks volumes on his true policies. He has never met a gun-control law he didn't vote for. He has made speeches on his hatred of gun owners and has stated repeatedly that he wants to take the right of gun ownership away from the American people. He is pandering now and has no intension of following through with his present statements. As soon as he is able, he will call for every gun ban his warped mind can comprehend. He will have the gun banners in for Whitehouse dinners 4 nights a week and let them dictate the policies. Don't believe , for one minute, that he believes what he is now bloviating!

mossberg or remmington

both very good gun makers, but if you want to drop a chunk on an easy low recoil shotgun go with the beretta extrema 2

Thank you dytch...I really wish I knew more about firearms, but I just don't. I'm embarassed to admit just how ignorant I really am.

I'm also thinking about taking a hunting course, just to be better prepared and hopefully feel more comfortable with a firearm.

I agree. Even though it is being said that he has run the best, most organized campaign, it is stunning how all Obama followers will not acknowledge any negative info against him. It is interesting to watch him re-write history right in front of our eyes...and everyone is mesmerized!

its almost like a form of mass hypnosis, honestly think aboutthis campaign, media coverage was 85% obama, newspapers, magazines, tv commercials, everything was pro obama and anti mccain, turning one into a saint and one into a villian/sinner
basically if you repeat aphrase enough times the people will start to subconciously think it, key in certain words to make the phrase sound more genuine and there ya go. granted mabye im just paranoid, but even what appears to be paranoia can turn out to be truth. granted i think obama has some decent ideas. (hypocritical i know) but the fact that like i said earlier hes using the constituion as toilet paper and trouncing all over the flag like itwas a door mat into his utopian paradise of sunshine and happy irks me more than anything.

at what point, does america become a country we dont recognize

...and for maybe the 20th time here on ATS I have typed up a response and ultimately decided to redact the whole thing before I submit it because I'd prefer not to attract any undue attention to myself. Let me just say I'm proud of our 2nd ammendment and applaud everyone who has taken the step to join those of us who exercise that right to its fullest. There will com a day when the only way we can defend the second ammendment is through exercising it, agressively if need be.

In closing... From my cold, dead hands.

I think every true patriot and every true American will understand what I just said completely and will understand why I redacted what I originally had typed so as to not paint a target on myself should the day come when we face the eventual full on assault of our right to keep and bear arms.

12 gauge. The Remington 870 would be a good choice.

to be honest anything you ever wanted to know about firearms minus training in their use, can be freely and easily obtained over the net, once yousort through all the garbage and media spinning

try www.worldguns.ru for a good start, its a pretty concise breakdown of the the entire worlds firearms, prototypes and active service models going all the way back to their inception

I am no loyalist *yet* to a particular shotgun manufacturer, but I was initially turned away from the Mossberg because of what I thought was a lack of third party accessories. Is that not the case?

Ill 2nd or 3rd the other posters about the Rem. 870. Great gun, very versitile. Can find all sorts of add-ons for them to customize as you need to. After you figure out what you are doing with it, consider a "slug barrel" in the off chance you decide one day to try your hand at deer or bear hunting.

However, before you ever think of putting one shell through any firearm, take a gun safety or hunters ed type class. You mention you know little about guns, the time to learn is before you own one, not after you have hurt someone.

Your correct. The Mossberg is a good cheap and handy weapon. Because its cheap, you don't mind it laying under your bed and geting dirty or a bit battered. But the 870 has so many accessories available for it that its hard to pass up.

Oh one more thing I wanted to add to my earlier post in this thread..

If you must buy guns because of these uncertain times please purchase them at Walmart. Support your country.

Oh yes, because walmart is America.

This is the same company who pays it's people the absolute minimum it can get away with, violates labor laws, environmental laws, edits people's time sheets, to they can pay them less money, doesn't have ANY health insurance plan for it's people, so they end up having to go to the government for health care. They operate sweatshop factories overseas to cut costs, and they DESTROY local economies. small towns, and generations-old family-owned businesses across the nation have been completely destroyed by walmart.....

They even waste millions upon millions of dollars per year mantaining a dedicated anti-union unit, who's only job is to be on site within 24 hours of anyone even MENTIONING the word union, to feed the entire store propaganda about how unions are bad, and steal your rights.

This company does more to HURT America than any other company i can think of. i've been boycotting them for years, because of how they conduct themselves...it's goddamn shameful.

Buy your guns from a local, family or privately owned gun stores. Support REAL America.

I have thought about purchasing a shotgun this week...which I can at least use for hunting trips with my in-laws and peace-of-mind knowing I have something in my home.

Does anybody have any recommendations for what I should consider purchasing? (I have limited shooting experience...only twice in the past year) with a shotgun. Not even sure the caliber).

Has he now?

Please show us the proof that he has expressed hatred for gun owners.
Even if he is for gun control, like McCain is as well, this does not translate into "hate".

That's just melodramatic propaganda.

Just like the spin this article puts on the reasons behind the gun purchases.
Who has done the research into who exactly is buying these guns and what political affiliation they hold? All I see in this thread and the article is speculation and fear however this explanation in the article seems more reasonable:

Gun purchases have also been climbing because of the worsening economy, which fuels fears of crime and civil disorder, industry sources and specialists said.

"People are preparing for catastrophe right now," said Leyshion, 55, of Nokesville. "It's insurance. With the stock market crash and people out of work, and the illegal aliens in this area, the probability of civil disorder is very high."

Economy worsens...and if what we've been hearing it's going to get terrible...then crimes go up. Muggings and smash-and-grabs are already rising in my city. Burglary is sure to follow. It is likely this is done specifically for protection of self and property.

But let's make this all because of Obama and his hatred of gun owners if it makes you feel better.

- Lee

Australians love their freedom too but we don't need guns. No I didn't vote for a gun ban. Our crime rate (gun related or otherwise) is much lower than the USA so what are you ranting about mate?

It seems America always needs an enemy/external threat or it would turn inwards on itself. Australians don't have that issue as we didn't require a war to forge our freedom. BTW we're the only western country to achieve it (via federation). Of that I'm proud!

We also haven't had assassinations of leaders like America had with Abraham Lincoln, The Kennedy Brothers, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X etc & now a threat on Obama... Some things never change! Australia is a peaceful nation. Are you?

I think we can agree to disagree on the gun issue... You can't convince me that a nation full of automatic weapons with a history of assassinations, high school massacres and drive by killings is liberated and free - though it appears you have convinced yourself.
